  • Building Reading Stamina!

    Funded Nov 5, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation! It is because of you my students are having a lot more fun with learning Reading Strategies!

My students were very excited when we received the games to help with our literacy centers. They didn't realize how much fun reading could be until we started using the literacy activities! They also love the Literacy Center Management chart! It helps my students get a visual of where they should be and what task they should be doing.

I teach Special Need children and they need the literacy activities to keep them engaged and of course learning at the same time.

Having these resources has really boosted the learning morale in my classroom. My students are no longer afraid to read for fear of being wrong but actually dive right in and are not afraid to make mistakes because they are having fun learning in the midst of everything. Thank you so much once again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin

  • Blending Art With Literacy!

    Funded Oct 7, 2014

Words can not express how happy you have made my students! When I showed my students all the wonderful art supplies, their faces lit up! They were so excited that they would be able to create awesome paintings to go along with their awesome writing. We are using the art supplies during our literacy block. We use them in our centers. We have been taking what we have been learning during our ELA block and blending it with the Arts. As of late, we have been researching and reading Non-Fiction texts on Animals in the Savanna. After writing an informative piece on an animal of their choice, students painted fabulous pictures of the animals they chose. Having these art supplies has boosted the learning morale in the class because my students know that after writing they now get the opportunity to express themselves artistically as well. The art supplies have done wonders in my classroom. Thank you so much once again for you donation!”

  • It's Too Loud!

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation. You gave me the best teacher appreciation gift ever! You also gave my students the wonderful gift of being able to read on our computers without distracting the others.

When my students saw that we got new cool headphones for our computers and new word games, they were so thrilled. It's the little things that make children smile.

We use the headphones during our station time. During our stations, we have a computer center in which the children go online, read stories and answer questions. The headphones cut down on the noise level in the class. We use the word games during our literacy station times as well. I even have the children write a sentence using the words they have built using the game.

The headphones have help the children concentrate on what they are reading on the computer and they keep the children engaged in their online activity. The word games helps reinforce sight words and the cvc words learned in class, in a fun way.

Thank you so much once again!”

  • Listen And Learn!

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation! Having a listening center has greatly impacted my class. I teach in an ICT where 40% of the students have special needs. Engagement is key in their learning.

When we first received the listening center my students were beyond excited! When I showed them the read alouds that we would be reading in our new listening center, their eyes lit up!

We use the listening center during our literacy stations where our students participate in various literacy activities that strengthen their reading stamina.

My students are now engaged, the class is much quieter and I see the grow in their listening comprehension. Thank you so much once again!”

  • Classroom Supplies Needed for 1st Graders!

    Funded Oct 31, 2013

I want to take this time to thank you all once again for donating to our project!!! These supplies have been beneficial to my class in so many ways. I wish I could upload more pictures to show you.

The classroom management chart works wonders in my classroom. All children need positive reinforcement and the fact that they literally get to see how they are doing makes a world of a difference. No one in my class wants to be on "red" so they try their best to be on their best behavior. :)

We use all the bins to house our workbooks and reading books. We use the caddies to store our everyday supplies neatly. We of course use the sentence strips every day to accentuate our lessons. Teaching in a class were there are special needs students, it is important to provide color and things that will stand out. You all have afforded us that.

We can't get enough of the pocket charts. We use them for just about everything. We especially like to use them during our stations were the children can actually move sentence strips, with words on them, around on the pocket charts, to make sentences.

Thank you again for all your help. It was very much appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin

  • 1 Computer...27 Students. Students Need Laptops!

    Funded Oct 31, 2013

    Happy New Year All,

I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU once again for donating funds to afford my 1st graders the opportunity to have more technology in our classroom. When my students saw the laptops they SCREAMED with excitement. Everyone had their hands raised, wanting the first turn on our new laptops. I modeled how to use the laptops and they were anxious to get started!

We use the laptops ALOT especially during the ICT Station Teaching model. We divide the children up in 4 stations were they do different activities to strengthen their reading skills. One of our stations is NOW computer and at this station the students are actively engaged in different programs (Hooked on Phonics, Starfall...etc.) that help them review letters, letter sounds and blending and segmenting. My students absolutely love using the laptops.

My students are now more eager to learn especially knowing that they will all get a chance to get on the laptops. We use them for math and for listening to various books online. Being that I teach in a high poverty area, computers are scarce in a lot of homes so again I would like to thank you for opening up another outlet for my children to learn! THANK YOU!”

  • iPad Means iLearn!

    Funded Feb 15, 2013

We would like to thank everyone who donated to our class getting an iPad mini! We have been using it for months now and we absolutely love it. I only wish we could have had more iPads donated to our class this year.

We use the iPad everyday. We use the iPad with our projector which maximizes the iPad mini's capabilities. Using the iPad mini with the projector enables our class to turn our projector screen into an interactive whiteboard where the children are using the iPad throughout the lesson and are thoroughly engaged.

We also use it in our station time. Some children use it independently and some times I have two children share it to play literacy games.

The uses of our iPad mini are endless and aforementioned, I wish we had more iPad's in our classroom to help facilitate learning using technology! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin

  • This is Boring!

    Funded Dec 31, 2012

Words can not express how grateful we are that you have donated to our class getting a projector. We have used the projector every single day since it has arrived. Our class looks forward to our "Daily Fix-Its", which are done on teacher generated PowerPoints, Word Wall Word checks, which are done via PowerPoint every morning so our kindergarteners can brush up on their sight words, interactive stories (I use video editing software to make our "Big Books" come alive), grammar, phonics, math...the list literally goes on and on.

My kindergarteners no longer have to stand on their knees to see over their peers heads. Everyone can see the interactive lessons and everyone is most importantly ENGAGED. I read my class a story about a Chameleon named Clyde and then was able to go to Brain Pop Jr. and project a video on animals who camouflage themselves. Our children absolutely LOVED this component of the lesson and ask me daily (even though we were finished with the story and unit...if they could watch the video again). As you can see, your donation has really impacted our kindergartners. Thank you so much once again!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin
