Flexible Seating
Funded Nov 19, 2019The feedback from students and staff about the addition of these chairs has been overwhelmingly positive! Small group instruction takes place there often and groups of students frequently sit in this area throughout the day to complete homework, work on laptops, read or even just relax for a few minutes. More students are coming in after school to borrow a laptop and sit and work in these chairs. It has even added a nice area for teachers to hold a book discussion group.
By purchasing these chairs we are beginning to make the transition from traditional library to learning commons where flexible seating and technology options are available to suit a variety of needs in the spacewhole group instruction, small group work, meetings and many other possibilities.”

For a love of reading!
Funded Oct 18, 2017Thank you for your generous donations to help provide a greater variety of books for our students to read outside the classroom. Like many schools, our library operates on a limited budget and your donations help us make that budget go much farther.
It's important to offer a variety of genres to our students, most students lean toward a certain genre or two, whether it is mystery, fantasy, science fiction or historical. When we are able to offer books that appeal to all students, we can help them cultivate a love of reading that will help them to become lifelong learners.”

Reaching out to Reluctant Readers
Funded Oct 19, 2017Thank you for your generous donations to help provide a greater variety of books for our students to read outside the classroom. Like many schools, our library operates on a limited budget and your donations help us make that budget go much farther.
Many students are reluctant readers and being able to provide high interest books in such genres as graphic novels, fantasy, sports and humor makes it more likely these students can find books that they find engaging and entertaining, helping them to develop a love of reading and become lifelong learners.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Community and one other donor.Makerspace: Create, Innovate, Imagine!
Funded Mar 24, 2017The students have loved using the items in our new makerspace. The Snap Circuits, Makey Makey, Bloxels and 3D pen have helped them not only learn about electronics and how they work, but help them to problem solve and let them use their creativity to make video games or 3d designs.
The 3D pen is by far the most interesting to the students. They have been very interested to try it and see how it works and start creating things. We recently held a wellness week in which drawing with the 3d pen was among many activities students could participate in to help promote mindfulness and relieve stress.
Thank you for your generous donations that have helped fuel our students creativity!”

Fiction Books
Funded May 4, 2015Thank you so much for your donation to the Ashland Middle School Library. Finally being able to purchase new books has revitalized and old, outdated collection and given students new incentive to read outside the classroom!
Although, unfortunately I am not in Ashland this year, I know in the spring there was much excitement among students to start reading the new books, many of which are high demand titles.
A main goal of the librarian is to encourage a love of reading in students and only by continuing to provide current, quality books can we do that.
Thank you again for your support.”
