  • Leveling the Reading Field

    Funded Oct 23, 2022

My students were so grateful for the books that were provided to them. Many of the books that were purchased were novels that students have a difficult time getting their hands on. The students now have a chance to work on their comprehension skills and are better able to journal about what they read because they are enjoying the books.

My students who are in the special education classes at my school particularly enjoyed the books because the books were leveled according to their reading levels. These donations have brought back the joy of reading for my students and I am ever grateful for your generous donations.”

  • Interactive Science Class

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

I can not explain how grateful I am to the donation for our class gift card for Teachers pay Teachers. With that card, I am able to get materials that are able to help my students learn science. I am able to download science materials for students that need extra help with various concepts. Students are also able to play interactive science games. Materials like these are difficult to come by because of budgets, but this donation has really helped me bring great science activities to my students.

The students that benefited the most from this technology have been my students with special needs. I have been able to find differentiated materials for them and they are enjoying learning science. Students are able to use the computer in order to look up various science vocabulary words and play games related to science.

Once again, I would like to thank all of the people and companies that donated to my students.”

  • Starting Off on the Right Foot

    Funded Dec 1, 2018

It is so difficult to ask students at the beginning of the year for supplies. Students in my school district come from poor homes and it is difficult to get school supplies and materials to start them right for the school year.

My students were so happy to receive materials for the beginning of the school year. Students were able to take notes and participate in science class without worrying about getting work done.

These materials helped students draw items in science, take notes and focus on the lessons on a regular basis.”

  • Fishing For A Good Book

    Funded Jul 31, 2018

My students were so excited when they saw all of the books that came for them. Students were happy because they were able to actually pick quality books that they were interested in reading.

We were able to collaborate with the english department and the library to help students borrow books and read and bring them back within a two week period. Students have done very well with this process and they have brought up their reading scores. My special needs students really are enjoying the graphic novels. They feel as if they are able to read books and understand the stories.

My students are so grateful for the books provided to them.”

  • Planting in Harlem

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

My students have done wonderful with the planting materials that were provided. The students were able to set up the growth lab ad they were able to plant various herbs in the classroom. Students were able to take measurements of the growth of the plants, they were able to do research on the different herbs that they grew and they were able to take care of the soil and monitor the amount of sunlight and water they gave the herbs.

My students were very excited and eager to get started with the project. They worked together as a team to set up the materials. The students grew thyme, basil, arugula, rosemary, lavender and cilantro. Once these items were fully matured, we picked them and gave them to families to cook with. Some students took the items home for their parents to make various dishes.

For the 2022-2023 school year, incoming six grade students will receive the experience of planting herbs as well.

Your donations have opened a new world for my students in the area of botany.”

    Ms. Jones

Welcome. I am a science teacher in Harlem and I would like to give my middle school students the chance to experience dissections of vertebrae animals before they attend High School. My students are currently in the 7th grade studying a unit on human body systems. We would like to do some comparative anatomy and dissect frogs in the classroom. I believe that my students will value this experience and it will provide students with an interest in the sciences in middle school, high school and beyond.
