"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." Confucius. We are a classroom of do-ers. We collaborate, we communicate, we create. We observe and chart the metamorphosis of tadpoles and larvae into frogs and ladybugs. We incubate fertile chicken eggs. We candle the eggs to see life and movement before birth. After hatching, we extrapolate the breeds of our chicks based on inherited traits. We learn about mass by placing our chicks on scales each week to measure their growth... but something is missing. Technology. The average American checks their phone every 12 minutes. How can these students become 21st Century Learners without the link to technology? These future world changers need to take their learning to a deeper level by adding technology to our instruction. With safe access to the internet, these kids can research breed traits, environmental influences on traits, chart growth patterns, and publish and present their results. In our classroom, we are all active participants in learning. We work in teams to solve math problems, we work with teams during our ELA centers, we work with teams to manage our daily tasks. We are learning social skills, we are learning to persevere and to compromise. However, we don't have ready access to technology. With your help, these students can have it all...
