Most adults don't like having to sit in one place for 90 minutes. That's why many companies have changed to alternative seating for their employees (Google, Amazon). If that's how we feel, we can't expect kids to do it. Many of my kids need alternate seating options. By giving them a place to stand and work, or cuddle with a book in the reading corner will meet their physical needs as well as their academic needs. Just like the research involving adults, studies have shown that when children are able to choose their type of seating, they are more likely to be more productive and focused while working. Please help me help my students to be their best!
