Currently there are not enough stands for two rehearsals to use at the same time. In larger ensembles there are 2-3 students per stand. Some stands we currently own are from the school opening in 1974 and are falling apart or repaired frequently to still be used. More stands would allow for program growth and less strain on students. In the past three years the Reed music program has doubled and is expected to continue to grow as the influx in new residents continues. Currently the program is not able to purchase stands with the district funding that is given. The music department currently fundraises for 94% of its operating budget.
