This was my first year teaching fourth grade. If there is anything I took for granted, it was that my students would walk into my fourth grade classroom wanting to read. My students need an environment that will foster a love of reading. Through the use of wobble stools and balance ball seats, I am hoping to create a classroom in which students can fall in love with books and instill a sense of stamina in their reading. Literacy is at the core of education and I want my students to want to practice these skills each day. Adults who still have a love for reading do not read at their dining room table; they read on their sofa, their bed or in a rocking chair on their porches. I want to create these environments for my students so they are not confined to their desks. I want reading to be an enjoyable experience for them. Also, I want to implement these comfortable seats in order to create a culture of collaboration and creativity. Using these seating options, will allow students to spread throughout the classroom and engage in projects that will help them apply the skills they have learned during my instruction.
