Intervene for Reading Mastery!
Funded Oct 1, 2019Thank you and thank you again! A love of reading is not easy to build when students feel like they are not fluent readers. Thanks to your help in providing the materials necessary to implement new reading and learning strategies my students will be able to build confidence as readers and as life long learners. My students and I look forward to receiving these headphones and other materials to incorporate more fun into our reading fluency.
My principal also extends his personal gratitude to you for supporting our school.”

Reading Around the World!
Funded Oct 1, 2018Thank you so much for our ABDO Countries of the World books. Now that we have transitioned into our new building we are finally able to work on this project. The students have had a blast reading through these texts, studying the maps, and learning to speak a few words of another language. It has not been uncommon to hear phrases such as "Bonjour!" (French) and "Yassou" (Greek) in greeting or phrases such as "shukriya" (Urdu) and "kamsahamnida" (Korean) in thanks after sharing supplies. It has been a joy to see the world come to life for students who may have never traveled outside of this county or region.
Reading in this classroom may not always be straight from the front cover to the back. In social studies, reading rarely takes place in silence. It may not even take place in a chair at a desk. Students are eager to move around the room and compare what they are reading with others and share images of fantastic animals or especially yummy looking treats. I've even heard a couple of conversations about human impact on the environment which ties in with science projects that the students are working on at the same time. These books have truly made learning cross-curricular. Students are coming back into the geography classroom to find evidence for their science projects. It has been such a joy to see students love these books and integrate them into their typically technology-based research.
So thank you again for all your help in bringing geography and the science of human impact to life for our students. These books will enhance learning for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wren
