Using Technology to Succeed

My students and I are thankful for the chrome laptops. As a special educator, I allow my students to use the laptops as one of the tools to help close the academic achievement gap. Students have the opportunity of working on materials that are on grade level and on their individual levels. I-ready.com, firstinmath.com, and Readworks.org are a few examples. Students also use dictionary.com to help build vocabulary. The students are excited that they can work anywhere in the class with the laptops. They are also take great responsibility in caring for laptops.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.

I feel these materials will enable my students to participate in protocols that allows them to receive learning through auditory, visual, and movement. In addition, it allows the students to take ownership of learning. Since I am a special educator, I feel that multiple entry points are important for students so that they can have multiple opportunities to gain understanding of a content. I have seen my students being more engage when we do gallery walks to analyze each other work. Also, the Chalk Talk protocol has been effective for silently putting their final thoughts on butcher paper and discuss their thoughts afterwards.
