Wild for Animals!
Funded Apr 17, 2018We finally had out 8th grade trip and the children had a blast! Thank you for making this trip possible for them. We arrived as the zoo opened it doors rode the trolley and on our very fist stop students couldn't contain themselves. Right in front of their eyes they had hyenas and a few steps further they saw Giraffes that seemed to just be waking up from a nap. The students were amazed when they saw the gorilla exhibit and every exhibit after that. The park has a new bridge experience that was a hit!
The day was filled with so many memorable moments and you made it all possible! Thank you.”

Math to the Top
Funded Dec 30, 2016Thank you for your generosity, The materials you donated to my classroom have had a tremendous impact. The calculators have provided my students with the support they need to tackle grade appropriate tasks. Your donation is also helping special needs children acquire life skills that they will take to high school and beyond.
I am happy to report that for the first time in seven years of teaching I actually saw students enjoy learning about fractions and decimals. we used yard sticks and meter sticks to measure things around our classroom. Students were able to explain what they did and how their measurements were composed of fractions and mixed numbers. We used the meter side to explore decimals. Although this activity was performed by a 7th grade class they were all so exited to measure and compare. They really got to understand and explain the concept of fractions and its parts.
Lastly, the 8th grade used the graph paper to create graphs and maps, while the 7th grade used it to learn about symmetry while sketching body parts.
Thank you again for believing in my students and giving them a chance to engage and become part of an active learning community.”

But First, Let Me Take a CELLfie
Funded Jun 2, 2014Thank you for your support. Your donation really brought our science class to a new level. My students were very excited to have this new piece of equipment in our class. This was the first time many of them had the opportunity to use a microscope. Unfortunately they come from poor countries where they don't have the tools required to be successful in scientific exploration.
A new world of possibilities opened for them. They can see themselves as doctors and scientist. Thank you again for your donation. With your help my students can reach amazing heights.”

Read A Work Of Art
Funded Oct 24, 2014Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. Without your help we would not have been able to provide the students with a special place in our classroom where they can browse new and exiting stories as well as wonderful classics.
Our classroom library has been a hit among my students. Students have donated books and traded books. Everyone has been able to display some of their favorite titles and we are engaging in meaningful conversations about the books we read.
Your give has infused our class with a love for reading and a place that encourages sharing of ideas and conversations about the wonderful works of art we call books.”

What's in a Number?
Funded May 29, 2014Thank you for taking an interest in my students. Your donation has made a big impact in their education. The materials we were able to receive thanks to you have made working with numbers fun. We have been able to work with abstract concepts like place value and exponents. We are using the tiles to build concrete models on three dimensional and two dimensional shapes. We are also using the cubes in science to model ratios between surface area and volume of a cell.
My students really appreciate your kindness. They are exited to learn and get their hands on the materials you helped purchase. Thank you again.”

Making Algebra a Balancing Act
Funded Mar 19, 2014Thank you for believing in my students and this project. We were able to accomplish so much with the materials you purchased for us. Many of my students felt anxiety when I introduced algebraic expressions, equations, and inequalities. The algebra tiles and balances made learning fun for my students and removed the anxiety of learning new material.
My students find it hard to work with abstract concepts such as variable but working with the algebra tiles they were able to build tangible algebraic expressions that they were able to manipulate. Furthermore, my students loved working with the balances. They really needed to work with concrete materials to understand that a variable has a value and how they can work to find that value.
Your generosity will never cease to amaze me. I am grateful for your interest in my student's education.”

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Funded Dec 16, 2013Our hearts are filled with gratitude. We were able to purchase a camcorder, poster boards, an easel, white board, and markers thanks to your gift. I am happy to report our recordings have been a success. The number of students completing their homework has doubled. Our parents are grateful for the opportunity to helping their children and keep up to date with what we are learning in our classroom. Students are receiving lessons at home and our quiz and test scores have improved. I also think I've become a more effective teacher using tons of visuals and streamlining processes.
Your donation has also given our special extra help corner life. The white board has become a motivational tool for students who other wise lagged behind their peers. Students present their work to each other and receive feedback from their peers. There is just something special about standing up going to the board and being noticed. Students are receiving positive attention, helping out each other, learning new strategies, and seeing a fresh perspective. The extra board has brought an element of accountability, positive recognition, and independence to our class.
Now, I'm not the sole source of teaching. Thanks to your gift students are able to create posters for the classroom. They range from vocabulary word posters to posters about mitosis and meiosis. They love taking ownership of their education. Students take great pride in their work and their confidence has gone up tremendously.
Thank you for sharing my vision and believing in my students. My students and their parents are getting support at home and I am becoming a better teacher. Best of all, students are allowed to express themselves in a multitude of ways. My students are amazing and they are doing wonderful things with our new resources. Thank you for making it all possible.”
