  • Celebrating Holidays Around the World

    I want to thank you for your generosity in donating to my classroom to support my project "Celebrating Holidays Around the World."

    As of November, we have already celebrated Halloween, and are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving next week. For Halloween, the students painted their own mini pumpkins, with new paint made possible through your donations. I'm so excited for Christmas, Hannukah, Eid, Ramadan, Chinese New Year and more as the school year progresses.

    Celebrations like this are among the most impactful memories from elementary school, and I am so grateful that your generous donations made this possible.”

  • Sparking Joy for Independent Reading

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

    Thank you so much for funding my project to make reading joyful for my students. Our flashlights and stuffed animal "book buddies" have become a weekly treat that the kids look forward to so much.

    Every Friday morning, my students walk into our classroom to find a campfire video on the Smart Board, the galaxy light and twinkle lights on, and the overhead light off. They get to choose their favorite book buddy, and spend the next 30 minutes reading independently by the campfire under the stars. They tell me that "Flashlight Fridays" is one of their favorite activities we do together as a class, and as a teacher I can see the difference that it has made in their reading.

  • Building a Classroom for English Language Learners

    Thank you again for your generosity donating to my classroom. Your donations made a huge impact on my classroom and a huge impact on my students' learning and I can't thank you enough!

    Since this was my first year teaching without a co-teacher, I was basically starting from scratch and needed to get supplies for an entire classroom. Thanks to your donations, I was able to furnish my classroom to provide a comfortable, enriching environment for my class of first grade English language learners.

    My students were so excited when they saw all of the new materials we received! They were especially excited about the easel as well as the new supply caddies for their tables.

    We use the materials from this fundraiser everyday, and I don't know where we would be without them. I'm excited for future projects and the generosity of the Donors Choose community to further provide my students with the resources to help them learn and grow.
