  • Care for Our Guitars

    Funded Apr 2, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting our "Care For Our Guitars" project! We greatly appreciate the racks that were donated to us. It is always a pleasure to have support to our fine arts programs here at the school.

My students are grateful for the racks because it creates walking space while keeping the guitars safe and secure for later use. The guitar program is becoming more popular among the students here at the school. We would like to maintain the guitars we have for new students so that everyone in the class can practice together. The racks have also provided a space in the classroom designated for the guitar students to practice. This space that has been created has given the guitar students a sense of importance since the class is used for chorus the majority of the time.

Once again, thank you so much for supporting our fine arts department, especially to our guitar department as we continue to provide positive and memorable high school experiences through music and performing.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Practice Makes Perfect!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

On behalf of our fine arts department including chorus, guitar, and piano, I would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness and donations to our Practice Makes Perfect project. In this Project, we needed keyboard cases for many of our students who are learning to play the piano/keyboard.

Since the students do not have keyboards or a piano at home, students are allowed to check out keyboards at the school to take them home to practice. Our students either walk home, ride the bus or depend on public transportation for their traveling needs. Carrying around a keyboard can become challenging at times. Therefore, students are very grateful for these cases. Students are more comfortable with practicing at home knowing that their case will allow them to properly carry the keyboards home without worrying about damage to the keyboards.

Even though students were using creative methods to transport the keyboards, the cases are the best and safe option for both the students and keyboards. I cannot thank you enough for giving my students a better way to transport keyboards back and forth and promoting practice at home. Once again, thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Success In The Choral Classroom

    Funded Aug 18, 2017

Words cannot express how much we appreciate your donation to our resource project. We are grateful that you share an interest in the arts as much as we do! Resources and donations to the fine arts classes are always greatly appreciated especially to music because of our low funding.

These resources that were provided have improved our students sound tremendously. Vowel production and resonance have improved, and overall vocal production for all students. Male students have become more confident in singing alone and in groups together. One particular male student felt more prepared to audition for All State Honors Chorus. The students are engaged and have a better understanding of what it takes to sing in an ensemble. In addition to the improvements, students look forward to warming up with a daily tongue twisters. They are excited about completing the tongue twisters and explaining how it helps with diction and proper vowel production when singing.

I cannot thank you enough for believing in our Fine Arts program. We greatly appreciate you and your help for making our ensembles become more successful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Nurturing Students Through Piano Class

    Funded Nov 17, 2016

Thank you so much for the teaching system and the piano books for our piano class! They were greatly appreciated by the students who use them every day in class. Words cannot express how appreciative we are for your support in Fine Arts and building our piano program. This purchase has increased independent practice and learning in the piano class. With this equipment, students have been able to independently pace their progress, learn new skills on their own, practice without interrupting others, and overall perform more accurately. Students are more confident in their class recitals and enjoy performing. In addition, students are more excited in learning keyboard and piano skills.

Again, Thank you! We love your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Cultivating the Piano Class

    Funded Nov 20, 2016

Thank you so much for the padded keyboard benches and the sustain pedals for our piano class! They were greatly appreciated by the students who use them every day in class. Words cannot express how appreciative we are for your support in Fine Arts and building our piano program. The equipment purchases have increased independent practice and learning in the piano class. With this equipment, students have been able to enhance their posture at the keyboard, practice chord changes effectively, and overall perform more accurately. In addition, students are more excited in learning keyboard and piano skills.

Again, Thank you! We love your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • High Tech Choral Classroom

    Funded Oct 13, 2015

Words cannot express how thankful I am for your generous donation to the choral program. The software and iPad that you have provided has provided use of technology in the classroom as well as increased student participation and engagement. In addition to the music education software, the iPad has been used to record and evaluate performances for progress. Therefore, I have been able to gain student engagement from students who do not necessarily have an interest in chorus.

Our school is facing budget shortfalls, especially in the Fine Arts Department. Without your help, my students would not have these resources to practice, improve their craft in music, learn new concepts in an innovative approach, and properly evaluate their progress. The software has continued to assist the choral classes with sight-reading and theory skills. Students have been very proactive in using the equipment to show their appreciation for supporting their talent.

Without donors like you, many schools would go without.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Accomplish With Uniformity

    Funded Aug 26, 2015

Words cannot express how thankful my choral ensemble and I are for your contribution to our program. The royal blue polo shirts that you donated have helped my students become better recognized as a functioning choral program at our school. In addition, our ensemble portrays unity and professionalism with our shirts. We have used them in an A Capella Challenge, Cultural Experience Field Trips, and various other performances at the school including Homecoming Coronation.

Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without your help, my students would not receive uniforms. Uniforms for school ensembles depict uniformity, professionalism, and a sense of affiliation for the students who participate in the choral ensemble.

We graciously thank you for your donation to our Fine Arts Program.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

  • Building a Prominent Chorus Program

    Funded Aug 6, 2015

Words cannot express how thankful I am for your generous donation to the choral program. The equipment that you have provided has encouraged my students to participate in more performances and to receive piano instruction for students who could not afford lessons. In addition to piano instruction, the keyboards are being used to practice for choral performances. Therefore, I have been able to facilitate student interest groups that share music and ideas for performances for the school.

Our school is facing budget shortfalls, especially in the Fine Arts Department. Without your help, my students would not have these resources to practice and improve their craft in music. The microphones along with the speakers have allowed the students to participate in more performances including Homecoming Coronation, talent shows, and other school functions. The books has continued to assist the choral classes with sight-reading. Students have been very proactive in using the equipment to show their appreciation for supporting their talent.

Without donors like you, many schools would go without.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Allen

My students are extremely tech savvy. They are interested in technology based instruction that allows them to be competitive and instruction that provides instant feedback. The students are interested in private lessons in voice, piano and guitar. Students are very ambitious especially in performing a wide variety of music. Students are interested in classes such as piano, guitar, music technology, songwriting, and a Cappella ensembles. The school is a Title I school in a public school district. Before I arrived in 2012, there has not been a chorus/music teacher in the building for almost 5 years. Since the program has not been active for that long period of time, the program lacks specifics needed to make the program more functioning. The Fine Arts Program lacks adequate practice rooms, computers, storage, instruments, supplies, music, music technology software, Promethean boards and projectors, and uniforms.
