Teachers Helping Teachers
Funded May 4, 2022Teacher Pay Teacher has been an amazing resource to fill in instruction in my class. I have used this platform to provide presentations, lessons, and resources that follow our state curriculum. I can always count on these resources to be compressive for my students because these were created by teachers for teachers who have first hand experience using it in their classrooms. As a new teacher it has been hugely beneficial for me to use the guidance provided by other teachers. Thank you so much for your donation and we wish you a happy holiday!”

Can You Hear Me Now? How About Now?
Funded Mar 1, 2022Our district has provided us with great programs that provide additional instruction and practice for students in math, language, science, and computer science. These headphones are used daily for students to engage in personalized learning. For example, ST math is a program that is used by students K-5. ST math promotes students learning through puzzles guided by Gigi our friendly penguin. He takes students all over the world and engages them with geography facts as well as student guided math puzzles starting with number sense all the way to algebra. We are so thankful for your donation and the access it has given our class to use these great programs like ST math.”

Funded Feb 11, 2022Our school is a title on at-risk school with a very high ELL population. As a teacher, we need to find stories that look and sound like the community we serve. Books like: A Feast for 10, She Persisted, The Day We Begin, or Dazzling Travis. We are showing our students that their story matters. With these inclusive books added to our library, I watched one of my students cling to a new favorite book because Sarah, the main character in She Persisted, had hair just like her. I know your donation truly changed one of my student's stories, and this is just the beginning of creating an inclusive rainbow world.”

Funded Jan 1, 2022I started teaching straight out of collage in 2020 and the roller coaster hasn't slowed down yet. As teachers we have had every possible obstacle thrown at us. Everyone has made sacrifices through this pandemic and I am so thankful that you made the generous donation and sacrifice to help my students. My 4,5, and 6 year olds, I would argue, have dealt with some of the most impactful sacrifices through this pandemic.
They have emotionally and socially been distanced from the world around them. As we venture on into the end of the 2021-22 school year it is shocking to think that most of these children were babies when our world was turned upside down. They came into a foreign environment with little social skills and as you can guess. They were traumatized. They were no longer in the comfort of home as they dealt with these big emotions. It became clear quickly that this group of kindergarteners where going to need extra help figuring out how to deal with the feelings of anxiety, stress, anger, and excitement from the expanding world around them.
We use the Ipad in our quiet corner. We use the app Feels which takes the students through an evaluation of their feelings and then guides them through a breathing lesson and gives them tools on how to handle those feelings. This has been instrumental in teaching the kids how to work through big emotions while giving them tools that they can use well past our classroom.
I hope that you keep our #VegasStrong Kindergarten Room in your thoughts and know that you have helped these students overcome mountains.”

Having to change our classrooms to accommodate our students being socially distanced created a need that you for filled!
The students have loved their chair packs and I have loved that they are learning organization strategies at such a young age. Our computers go in the large pack, homework folders in another, and all the math manipulatives in the bottom. The chart tracks students behavior and allows for us to address big feelings. After a few months of this training I am blown away with the growth I have seen in my students. Providing them with these resources to teach them healthy emotional growth and ownership in their things is a life long skill that I know will have an impact on these students long past kindergarten.

Learning to Grow Through Our Big Emotions: Social-Emotional Health

The stress balls and figit toys have been a remarkable addition to our classes quiet corner. The students are able to go to the quiet corner and take their minds off of these big emotions and breathe while they recenter themselves. Once they are ready to join the class again we take a minute to talk through their emotions and make sure they have worked through what triggered them. After a few months of this training I am blown away with the growth I have seen in my students. Providing them with these resources to teach them healthy emotional growth is a life long skill that I know will have an impact on these students long past kindergarten.
