It is so important that children see themselves represented in the books they read or listen to. We make connections to the texts that reflect our beliefs and cultures but when diverse learners struggle to find themselves reflected, they lose interest. The problem is that diverse learners are under-represented and that sends the wrong message to these hard working students. It is my desire that all of my students are represented in a positive manner so that they feel loved and welcomed in my classroom. The books that I've chosen are reflective of the school community in which I teach, and will support all of the learners in my classroom!
