Our Kindergarten Classroom Needs Basic Supplies!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you again, so much, for your incredibly generous donation! Without people like you, our classroom truly would not function smoothly.
With the pens, the students have been able to write incredible pieces during our Writers' Workshop. The pens allow these kindergartners to carefully plan what they are going to write before they put it down on paper, and to take great care with their words and their drawings knowing that they will not be able to erase it The pens also allow students to show the world their mistakes and their edits, showing everyone that we are always working to make our writing the best that it can be.
The dry erase markers allow the students to practice their handwriting again and again during our phonics program, and to play different games again and again during math centers! The paper towels help us clean up our spills, and the cups allow us to drink water when we're thirsty.
Thank you again so much for believing in these kindergarten students!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and one other donor. Our Pre-K Class Wants to Visit a Farm!
Funded Mar 9, 2016Well, it took over a year, but we were finally able to take our trip to the farm! Complications with buses set us back, but we made it!!
Thank you so much for your extremely generous donations that allowed this trip to happen. Most of my students had never been to a farm before, and visiting one was an experience I know that they will not forget.
We got to ride on ponies, milk a cow, feed alpaca, run around with pigs and chickens, play with sheep, go for a hay ride, and more! We had an amazing time.
Thank you again for allowing these inner-city kids to leave their block and see more of what's out there! I am so grateful!!!”

We Are Readers! Our Kindergarten Classroom Needs Low-Level Books
Funded Dec 28, 2016Thank you so much for helping us get these low-level books in our classroom! Since the project was funded, so many of the students in my kindergarten class have gone from emergent readers who approximate the words on a page based on the pictures, to actually reading! The students could not have made this progress without the right books to read, and I can't thank you enough for ensuring that we have enough of these books in our classroom!
A life-long love of learning begins at an early age, and we are so grateful that you believe in these kindergarten students! Thank you again!!”

Teddy Bears as an Emotional Support in the Classroom!
Funded Dec 10, 2016Thank you again, so much, for donating to this project and getting these teddy bears into our classrooms!
You can imagine the excitement on the children's faces when they walked into the classrooms to find a row of teddy bears, the same number of bears as there are people in each classroom, sitting high up on top of the closet! When they discovered that they were each to get a bear to keep in the classroom, they were ecstatic!
The children soon decided on names, ages, and identities for their bears. It was heartwarming to see a child brand new to kindergarten, and quite homesick, name her bear "Mommy." Though the bears at first appeared identical, each child made the bear his/her own and soon no two bears looked alike.
The bears have served a number of purposes since entering our classroom, but mainly they serve as both transitional objects and as extensions of self. The bears have joined us for some of our read alouds, and children who are ordinarily too reserved to answer, "Why do you think..." questions are very willing to answer, "Why does your bear think...?"
Each classroom has also set up bear journals, where children can draw and write about their bears, not only supporting their literacy skills but also giving the students a platform to freely share their hopes, dreams, fears, and ideas.
The bears have been a very needed emotional support to children in a community who have experienced more hardships than most. Thank you again for believing in our students and this project!”

Our Kindergarten Classroom Needs Chromebooks!
Funded Sep 16, 2016Thank you again so much for funding these Chromebooks for our classroom! Our school is using an online program called i-Ready to supplement and support instruction in both reading and math. Having these Chromebooks in our classroom ensures that 5 children can be using i-Ready at any given point in our day.
Additionally, my students are learning to navigate technology that most of them do not have at home! They are able to open the computer, navigate the mouse and cursor, adjust the volume, and more. In our ever-increasingly technological society, it is so important that my students become familiar with the most current technology available so that they can keep up with their peers across the country.
Thank you again for believing in us and ensuring that we have these five Chromebooks to use daily in our classroom!”

Our Kindergarten Classroom Needs Furniture!
Funded Aug 31, 2016Thank you so much for ensuring that our kindergarten classroom has appropriate furniture! The shelves are of course essential in storing our books and supplies, and allow materials to be easily accessible to children. The kidney bean table is so wonderful for conducting small-group work, and the students are always so excited at the opportunity to sit and work there.
Our most favorite piece of furniture of all, though, is definitely the couch! The children love to have a comfy spot to read all of their favorites again and again.
Thank you for all that you do for our students and our school! We are so so grateful!!!”

Our Kindergarten Class Needs Books and Supplies!
Funded Aug 31, 2016Thank you so much for ensuring that we started kindergarten off on the right foot! It was so important that the students understood the routine for accessing and storing their work from the very first day of school, and without your support that would not have been possible. Thanks to you, the students have become experts at organizing, which is hopefully a skill that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives!
As the children have begun working hard at learning to read, the low-level books have been extraordinarily helpful and necessary in helping the children feel successful and confident in their reading abilities.
The hands-on math manipulatives have been so helpful in making sure that children understand the math concepts that we've covered in an engaging and clear way. The dual colored magnetic counters have been a very concrete way for children to show two different groups combining to make a larger number.
Thank you again so much for your generosity and for believing in my students! We are SO appreciative!!!”

Help Our Pre-K Class Get Art Supplies!
Funded Dec 29, 2015Thank you again, so so much, for making sure that my students have paint in the classroom. Being able to express oneself through art is so crucial to the development of four-year-olds.
As with all consumable supplies, I always want to find the right balance between making sure the materials last and making sure that my students don't feel that we are going to run out of anything. Thank you for making sure that we have enough paint in our classroom to assure the students that we will not run out!
We are so so grateful. Thank you again!!”

Our Pre-K Class Needs Basic Supplies!
Funded Nov 28, 2015As I've said so many times before, I cannot begin to thank you for the generosity that you have consistently shown my students and my classroom.
These basic supplies have truly made a difference in our classroom; we've had cups to drink out of, paper towels to wipe up our spills, and tissues to blow our noses and wipe away our tears! I do not ever want my students to have to worry about running out of these very basic items, but since our school does not provide them, it is always a fear of mine. Thank you for making sure that it doesn't have to be on my students' minds; they have too many other things to think about!
Sending so much love from our class!!! Thank you again!”

Our Pre-K Class Needs Cubbies!
Funded Aug 21, 2015Thank you again, so so much, for buying these cubbies for our new classroom! Finding out that we had to move classrooms was similar to being told you have to move your home and not all of your furniture can come with you.
Starting off the year knowing that each child in my class would have his or her own cubby was such a relief for me, and I'm sure a relief for my students as well! Many of them come from such transient homes where people and things come and go all the time. Knowing that you have your own cubby in school that will keep all of your belongings safe is extremely comforting for four-year-olds.
These 2-unit cubbies are so perfect to fit into the nooks and crannies of our new home. Thank you again for believing in me and my pre-k students!!!!”
