Magnets Attract Students to Science!
Funded Oct 15, 2012I want to send you my most sincere thanks for your generous donation that purchased neodymium magnets for my chemistry classroom. I was so excited to be able to present my students with a real-life meaningful learning experience. Having neodymium magnets allowed me to prepare a lab when student's examined the composition of fortified cereal. Students used the magnets to extract iron from fortified cereal.
The best part of the lab experience was to have students reflect, "Mrs. Lytle it was so cool I actually saw little black bits of iron in cereal". It was so wonderful to watch my excited chemistry students making connections between class discussions and materials in their daily life. I shared the magnets with the entire chemistry department and all students were able to perform this separation. Additionally the physics teacher is looking forward to using the magnets to measure resistivity.
Your thoughtful donation has touched the lives of many. You allowed me to show students how relevant chemistry is to their daily lives. Please know that your donation has removed the limitation on the type of experiments we can conduct in chemistry. Thanks so much for thinking of our students.”

Discovering Forensics in Science Fiction
Funded May 8, 2011Thank you so much for supporting our project on donorschoose.org. We are so thankful to have the science fiction novels written by Richard Preston to enrich our valuable learning experience. These books will allow students to learn possible real-life applications of epidemiology and forensics concepts we are studying. It is great to know that our learning will reach far beyond the classroom. I am so thankful for all you kindness I wish I could personally hug each and every one of you! It feels amazing to hear students who are enthusiastic about reading books in science. I have already heard, "this is the best book I have ever had to read for school"! ”

This classroom project was brought to life by AT&T and 4 other donors.Science Comes Alive With LCD Projector!
Funded Dec 31, 2010I am so thankful for you kind donation to my classroom. Your generosity make my students and I feel so loved. You have made such a difference in the everyday learning experience I am able to provide to my students. Without your help I would not be able to bring my chemistry class to life! Now clips of exciting experiments, animated analogies, and molecular models are part of our day to day learning. Students are now able to present their own work via PowerPoint presentations to the class. Just yesterday my students watched a great clip explaining how the 5 types of chemical reactions can be likened to celebrity love lives You have made learning chemistry more fun. On behalf of my students, let me say, "thanks so much". We really appreciate your donation. I am truly touched by your kindness. From the bottom of my heart, thanks for making a difference in all our lives.
All the best to you and your family”

Equipment for Advanced Placement Biology Experiment
Funded May 5, 2006My students and I are very thankful for your generous support. We are all excited to get started and learn more about the very important aspect of cellular respiration. Many of my students are experimenting with the idea of pursuing a career in the field of science. This opportunity will allow my students to have more hands on experiences and show them how fun science can be. The students at HSTAT have studied very hard this year and this is a wonderful way to top of the school year. Thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
Rachel ”
