Read to Succeed!
Funded Jan 24, 2012The power of being a successful reader is insurmountable. It is a skill that will last a lifetime and help one achieve his/her dreams. Your generous donation will help my students improve their reading skills so they, too, can achieve higher levels of reading.
We all know that LAUSD is facing a horrendous budget shortfall. The idea of purchasing a reading magazine such as Time 4 Kids for my students next year would be denied immediately. However, because of you, my students will be exposed to a variety of nonfiction articles, which is a HUGE need for struggling readers.
Consequently, our reading series features bits and pieces of the Time 4 Kids magazine. What better compliment than their own weekly subscription to this incredible magazine!
I am so thankful for your donation to my classroom and students. Thank you for supporting the power of reading!”
With gratitude,

Funded Jan 30, 2012Wow! How my students have enjoyed their classroom's new 5-shelf bookshelf and tropical-themed reading rug! Prior to having the bookshelf and rug, our classroom had run-down bookshelves and no place to sit quietly and read. Now, they have a special reading corner which we affectionately call "The Nook." This little piece of reading heaven has inspired my students to pick up a good book and just read! Incredibly, your generous donation to our classroom has been the highlight of my students' year!
We all know that LAUSD is facing a horrendous budget shortfall. Without adequate classroom furniture, our students diligently work in not-so-pleasant conditions. With this new bookshelf and reading rug, my students will be more apt to pick up books and read, which will increase their reading proficiency. This in turn, will affect all academic areas in a positive way. Because of you, my students will be better readers!
We are so thank you for donors like you! ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Ratner
