Indigenous Written Literature Circles
Funded May 3, 2021Thank you so much for your contribution to our Indigenous Written literature circles. My students had such an amazing time learning about the different indigenous people that were represented in these amazing books. We really dove in to learning about them, and how the nations are represented now in our country. My students engaged in discussions about the treatment of Indigenous people, and we really grew to learn more and see how we can be better allies to the Indigenous nations around us. We appreciate the donations and are so grateful we had this opportunity!”

Fill Non-Fiction Book Gaps
Funded Mar 16, 2021Thank you so much for helping my students fill the gaps in my library with some exciting and relevant non-fiction texts. My students read often in my classroom, which means that they always are looking for something new and exciting to look at. These titles have flown off my shelves, and the students have absolutely loved having new reads and things to learn about. My students have especially loved the books about how what they're learning now applies to their future career choices. Thank you for continuing their love of reading!”

Funded Mar 16, 2021Thank you so much for your generous iPad donation! So far, we have been able to use this technology to allow students to check out books from our classroom library, receive real time feedback regarding their work through websites like PearDeck, and even work on their reading fluency. The students are so excited to have this new piece of technology in our classroom, and I am so grateful to you for providing it to them! The case and the stand make it so much easier to clean, as well as to keep safe in between uses (and during)!”

Funded Mar 15, 2021WOW! Thank you so very much for all of your generosity to provide my Spanish speaking students with the ability to learn and read about anti-racism in their mother tongue. This will be invaluable to my students as they prepare to go across the country to learn more about their new, adopted country. I appreciate your investment in my students!”

Science & Math Books for Special Students
Funded Feb 22, 2021Wow! Thank you so much for helping me increase the amount of STEM books I have in my classroom library. I teach students who are beginning readers and in seventh grade all the way through students who don't struggle with reading at all. For my higher readers, a lot of them prefer informative texts and many of them have found such enjoyment in these new books. One of their favorites right now is one about the adolescent brain, they keep telling me the new random facts that they've learned and how it's "just their brain!" Thank you so much for continuing to expand literacy in my classroom. I appreciate your generous donation to my students.”

Motivated Mailboxes
Funded Feb 11, 2021Thank you SO much for the wonderful baskets and laminating sheets. I actually just found out that I'm taking on a new class starting Monday focused on literacy and phonics, which means These baskets will go to amazing use to keep everything together and reduce the amount of time my students need to go back and forth. It is also helping my students stay accountable for the items that are kept at their desks and keep their books and items away from other students. They really enjoy having their own little buckets and being able to wipe down the items that are used between multiple classes so they don't have to worry about COVID. Thank you so much to all of you for helping support my students :)”

Scholars Deserve Studies!
Funded Jan 26, 2021Thank you so much for helping me get a Study.com account to be able to benefit my students. One of my jobs as a Special Education and English Language Learner Educator is to help my students with reteaching and learning about how to study. Study.com has been an amazing help already in our class. Study.com allows me to print fill in the blank notes and assign to students what they personally need to work on. This saves me so much time because normally, I have to go through and create these myself. Because Study.com has the ability for me to just find what my students are learning, assign it to them for review and have printable fill in the blank notes for them. It's saved me time, and made it so I can be an even better teacher.
Thank you for all your support for my students. I am seeing them make gains I never have before!”

Funded Dec 27, 2020THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I am not trained in ELL, but have kind of been learning on the spot and once I knew how much these would benefit my students I am so glad that I can experiment with them now so I can be the best teacher possible for next year. My current math classes are allowing me to use the Doodle Notes with our EL students and it has really been phenomenal to see their growth and how much the whole Doodle Note system really helps them understand. Interactive Notebooks have also been a complete game changer for my students. Thank you so much for your help in making those possible.”

Everyone Deserves Engaging Books!
Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity. Being able to have texts that my brand new to English readers can read has made such an impact in my classroom. My ELL students are exposed consistently to new text and new words, school is full of them! However, it's hard to find books that are engaging or that they enjoy. My male students have loved reading some of the Goosebumps books, and another one of my students is working her way through all of the Magic Tree House books.
The first time we did SSR in my class, so many of my ELL students were stuck with books they couldn't read, I'm so glad to say this is not the case anymore thanks to all of the donors. I appreciate you!”

Funded Aug 30, 2020Thank you so very much for helping me give my students the opportunity to "attend" DC virtually. So many of my students were beyond excited to know that people from all over the country cared enough about them to want to support them. The students started with a lesson about important civic values, like liberty and freedom to help them understand why people might have differing views.
Then, they progressed onto discussing the topics that Close Up noted would be of particular importance during this election: Health Care, Criminal Justice and The Economy. Students learned from a non-partisan perspective what each major party was presenting options wise for these three topics and then they got to discuss their beliefs, why they believe that way and hear from other students with our partner school in Oregon about their beliefs. The students really learned so much from this experience.
I can't thank you enough for supporting my students. COVID hit them especially hard, and they were so disappointed they wouldn't get to go to DC in person. While still being a member of the club is awesome, they are so glad they didn't lose out on the experience in whole. I appreciate you all more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
