New Books for Voracious Readers
Funded Dec 2, 2024Thanks to this project, my students are engaging with reading in ways that were not possible before. The newly added books to our classroom library have opened doors for critical thinking, creativity, and connection. These books introduce key skills such as analyzing nonfiction texts, identifying main ideas, and interpreting different perspectives, all while being engaging and relevant to their lives. By reading these newer titles, students practice comprehension strategies and build vocabulary in an exciting and meaningful context.
In my classroom, reading is a vibrant and personalized experience. Every day, students spend time choosing books from our color-coded library, not based on reading level, but on the experiences and themes that resonate with them. This system helps students find texts that connect with their interests and identities, making reading more approachable and less intimidating. They also participate in book discussions, write reflections, and complete creative projects inspired by their reading, fostering a community of readers who support one another.
One student, who had always claimed to "hate reading," recently discovered a love for nonfiction through one of the new books in our collection. She told me, "I didn't know books could actually be about things I care about." Another student, who struggles with focus and confidence, found solace in a colorful, engaging nonfiction title that sparked his curiosity about science. These moments remind me why this library is so important.
Because of your support, my classroom library now reflects my students' lives and interests, helping them find their own stories while building critical skills. Thank you for making this possible—you've not only added books to shelves but also given my students the tools to thrive.”

Headphones Help Us Learn at Our Own Pace
Funded Nov 9, 2024Thank you so much for supporting our classroom's journey toward personalized learning through the Modern Classroom model. Your contribution has made it possible for each of my students to have reliable headphones, which are essential to our flexible, self-paced learning environment. With these headphones, my students can engage fully with recorded lessons on their Chromebooks, reviewing materials at their own pace and building mastery on their terms.
When the headphones arrived, my students were thrilled! For many of them, having a quality pair of headphones meant they could finally focus without distractions and truly take control of their learning. One student mentioned how much easier it is to rewatch tricky parts of lessons without worrying about noise or interruptions. Now, students who need extra time with a concept can revisit lessons as often as needed, while others can move forward confidently. The difference in focus and independence has been remarkable.
A memorable moment was watching students settle in with their Chromebooks and headphones, fully immersed in the lessons. With this setup, each student can learn without feeling pressured to move at a specific pace. Instead, they are empowered to work through challenges, review, and self-assess—skills that will serve them far beyond our classroom.
Thanks to your generosity, these headphones will be a valuable resource in our class for years to come, supporting a model of learning that meets students where they are and helps them thrive.”

Bound Books for College Bound Scholars!
Funded Sep 27, 2024Thanks to your incredible support, I'm now able to provide my students with organized, cohesive unit packets that are not only easier to manage but also enhance their learning experience. With the book binding machine, I can now bind our literature and history units together, creating sturdy, professional packets that my students can use throughout each unit. This improvement has had a real impact on how they engage with the material and keep track of their work.
When the students first saw their bound packets, they were thrilled. For many of them, having a neatly organized booklet instead of a stack of loose worksheets was a game-changer. One student even commented, "It feels like a real book!" This change has made it much easier for them to keep up with daily reflections and assignments. They've shown more ownership over their work, and the excitement of flipping through a complete packet has added to their enthusiasm for the subjects we're studying.
A particularly memorable moment came during our first day using the new packets. As students flipped through the pages, they found reflection sections, historical timelines, and interactive activities that made the packet feel like a guided journey through the unit. I could see how this new format helped them understand the material as a connected story rather than isolated worksheets, and it allowed me to easily check their progress and reflections.
Going forward, I'll be able to bind future units, creating a consistent and sustainable solution that keeps students organized and focused. This resource has made a significant impact on our classroom, and I'm incredibly grateful to you for making it possible.”

Growing Our Math Book Collection
Funded Nov 13, 2024Thanks to your support, my classroom library has transformed into an even more welcoming and enriching space for my students! With the new non-fiction books, my students now have access to resources that are broadening their horizons, particularly when it comes to understanding real-world applications of math and science. Middle school can be a challenging time, especially for many of my students facing difficult circumstances outside of school, so creating a space where they feel at home and engaged in learning is incredibly important to me.
The students' reactions to the new books were priceless. Some who had previously struggled to find a "good fit" book dove right into our updated selection. Seeing titles about math and its real-world applications, students who had often avoided non-fiction were suddenly curious and eager to try something new. One memorable moment was when a student who had always proclaimed they "hated math" picked up a book about the fascinating ways math appears in nature. It led to an incredible discussion about patterns in our world, from the spirals of seashells to the symmetry of snowflakes.
These new books have opened the door to important conversations, critical thinking, and newfound enthusiasm for non-fiction. Our next steps will focus on using this energy to enhance non-fiction reading comprehension. Through group activities and independent reading, my goal is for every student to experience the joy of learning something relevant and engaging to them.
Thank you again for supporting us in creating a classroom that feels like a second home, one where all students feel represented and inspired to grow.”

Funded Aug 24, 2024Thanks to your generosity, my students have had an exciting and immersive experience exploring Ancient Civilizations in a way they never expected! With the resources provided, we were able to bring history alive by hosting a "Royal Game of Ur Championship"—a grade-wide competition where students learned and played an ancient Mesopotamian board game. This hands-on project allowed them to connect deeply with the content and see that history isn't just something to memorize, but something they can engage with and enjoy.
When the students first saw the game boards, their excitement was electric. Many of them had never experienced a lesson quite like this. Right away, they were eager to learn the rules and dive into the competition. They strategized, formed teams, and practiced, all while soaking in the historical context of the game. It was wonderful to see them draw connections between this ancient pastime and the spirit of competition and strategy they know today.
We could not have made this happen without you. Thank you!”
