I teach 2nd grade in the Chinese Dual Language Immersion program. Math is taught to the students in Chinese. It is my opportunity to reinforce math concepts in the English language and to support the individual learner. My students will use these manipulative to provide another representation for the mathematics being studied. They essentially will be a bridge to connect the concepts they are learning in the Chinese language to the English language. These materials will support student engagement, help differentiate instruction and give students ownership of their own learning.
