With all that energy I have slowly moved towards flexible seating, but would like to add a few more options for my students. One might ask, "What is flexible seating?" or "What are the benefits?" The idea behind flexible seating is that every student has a different learning style, and as their teacher, I want to empower each student to choose a seat in our classroom that best meets their needs. I want students to have a variety of seating options throughout the day. Students will no longer be tied to sitting on a chair while they learn. Some seating options might include stools, wobble stools, or yoga balls.
It is no surprise that children need to move. When children cannot move they become distracted or worse....disruptive. Flexible seating allows students the ability to bounce, twist. lean, wobble, or stand without distracting others while still being productive.
Having all my students focused and on task is a priority in my class. Please help me meet their individual learning needs.
