Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.
Funded Dec 21, 2017I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts (students as well) for donating these wonderful and informational books to our library. Since most of my students come from low-income families, they were surprised and appreciative of the kind gestures anonymous donors have done for them. A little does go a long way for them. Since we had a very few amount of non-fiction books pertaining to weather, these books purchased with your donations have been used to raise new questions as well as build on their knowledge about natural disasters, landforms, and weather. In the class, we were using one mentor text about weather and students were able to borrow these books from the library to read at home and were exposed to new content. Since the books that were donated were of different reading levels, it gave the students an opportunity to read at their level and enjoy reading. They came back to the class the next day and shared what they learned and were eager to borrow new books that sparked their interest!
In my classroom, not only is reading a necessity but enjoyable time for students to wind down and read what they enjoy reading about.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lau
