Flexibility and a Boost in Self-Confidence in 2nd Grade!
Funded Nov 17, 2022I am so appreciative of your help in the purchase of these items. I would like to say these materials have made a great impact on my students' learning. These items have helped me create a more mobile classroom. Students are able to work together moving around the room using their dry erase white boards and the flexible seating options. It has been determined based on research, that students learn better from standing and moving around the classroom. It helps create a Thinking Classroom and helps improve student thinking skills. so these materials are helping me achieve this type of classroom.
When we received our materials the students were so excited. They have enjoyed using the different materials. The flexible seating options have become very popular throughout the classroom. I am sad that some of my materials were not available because they would have helped more with our flexible classroom. The rug is a popular place for partners to meet up for hands on learning activities. The large post-it chart paper allows me to display math problems around the room as students move from station to station to complete them discussing how they complete them and different learning strategies. We are also using them for anchor charts for different information such as our Classroom Social Contract and Vocabulary. My students always ask who gets the recliner today so I have to draw names so they can take turns.
My students and I are so thankful for the impact your donations have had on our classroom. My classroom will run a lot more smoothly because of your generosity. We are forever thankful. My students are learning new ways to think and learn because of these materials. Again Thank You.”

Hands-on Learning Opportunities for Special Education Kids!!!
Funded Aug 17, 2017Hello, first of all I would like to thank you all so much for your wonderful donations. I have been able to do so many wonderful things in my classroom thanks to your donations. My classroom is better organized and more uniform. In my math classes I have been able to use the Connecting Stars to teach kids how to create array's to help them with their multiplication skills. I have also used those connecting stars for division skills. I have been able to provide deodorant for students who do not have the means to get their own. My students have used the Ziploc bags for small parts when we created a fold-able and didn't finish it in time for class to be over. Students have used the Elmer's glue sticks while creating their fold-able for division skills. My students were able to utilize the hot glue gun during Spirit Week for the hallway decorating contest. My students have also been able to use the Astrobrights colored paper for various activities such as our character description where they were asked to describe the main character from our novel by creating a picture and creating a background image behind the character that shows something about him. The fidget spinners have been very popular in my computer skills class, they have helped me keep my students focused on what I am saying and showing them on the SMART Board. The puzzle balls and Emoji key chains have been given to students as incentives for returning papers that needed signed or for going above and beyond in class. There are so many wonderful hands-on uses for the items we were able to purchase thanks to your donations.
Each day when the resources started being delivered my students would get so excited to see what else we received. They were like kids at Christmas after Santa comes, unable to wait to open the boxes. When they saw the incentives they all wanted them right away and of course I did not allow them to have them right away. They were able to start using the fidget spinners and really enjoyed that. The puzzle balls were a huge success as well although they struggle with putting them together they do allow them to use their thinking skills to help find a way to get it together correctly. As each box was opened the anticipation they felt was so fun to watch.
As we continue to work on multiplication skills the connecting stars will be useful in my lessons. I will also be able to use them when we begin working on fractions. The glue sticks and Astrobrights colored paper will also continue to be useful as we continue to create fold-ables for math skills. The post-its will become useful in my English Language Arts class as I have my students jot down quick predictions as they read, words that they may be struggling with, or exit questions they may have at the end of a lesson. I am so thankful that I also have a way to be more organized and uniform in my classroom. Being able to provide personal hygiene items for my students is also a great feeling as they are beginning to go through puberty and life is changing for them. This helps them feel more comfortable and maybe save them from being bullied or picked on for not keeping up with those kinds of things. We are so thankful for everything you have done for our classes. Your donations mean the world to my students.”
