Mirrors and Windows 3
Funded Oct 23, 2020Thanks for all the generous donations that made it possible to create a classroom library that represents a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and circumstances. I read aloud a least three texts daily. The books we use in our classroom send a message to students about who they are and how the world sees them. The impact of these books will go far beyond the walls of Carrollton Elementary.
Thanks for the abundance of texts that reflect our demographics and expose us to ideas, concepts, and people we may not have encountered yet. These texts will be used as part of instruction to send a clear message to my students that they belong and are essential to our classroom community.
Thanks to your donations we were able to really talk about the importance of using our voices to vote and how African Americans and women didn't always have that right. Thanks for giving my students mirrors and windows.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Odom

Funded Sep 9, 2020Thanks for all the generous donations that made it possible to create a classroom with valuable learning experiences. You can see the students' excitement from the pictures. These books and resources have fostered learning and creativity through play. The impact of these resources will go far beyond the walls of Carrollton Elementary.
Thanks to our new stem kits, those days when it is too wet too go outside have become much more enjoyable. It is amazing to see their imaginations at work and all their endless creations with brain flakes, Legos, and puzzle blocks. They are definitely expanding their problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Thanks for the abundance of stem related texts that reflect our demographics and expose us to ideas, concepts, and people we may not have encountered yet. The biographies allow students to see what is possible. I hope these texts will inspire my students to follow their passion.”

Mrs. Odom

When we can relate to the characters in a book we are more engaged and motivated to read. I aim to give students a picture of what they can become and what they can achieve. When we are exposed to individuals who are different than ourselves we learn to value them. Thanks for giving my students mirrors and windows.”
