Funded Oct 14, 2020Wow! What a difference the Scholastic Newspaper has made in our class. Our first edition arrived the week before the presidential election. The kids and I were so excited. Everyone opened their electronic copy and read all about the candidates. The newspaper did a wonderful job presenting the candidate's positions on 6 important topics.
Using the information gleaned from reading, students created posters for their candidate of choice using Canva. (Some of the photos are linked to our thank you.) With the Scholastic News, the information is so accessible, students were able to read and understand.
Prior to election day, using all that we learned about the candidates, students wrote about their position on class topics. They created candidate statements, and we held our own class election on election day. We had 8 students who ran. We elected a president, a vice president, and the remaining 6 candidates are the president's cabinet of advisors. We continue to enjoy the news each week and learn so much. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Venable
