A 3D Printer for Our Makerspace
Funded May 5, 2020We are going to begin using our new 3D printer this semester. Unfortunately, COVID has made us have to hold back our plans, but we are very excited to use it this year! We've been learning how to use it, and students will start being trained next week.
I want to thank you for your patience. I know you've wanted to hear about the exciting things happening, but COVID really threw a wrench in our planned fun with technology. My hope is this year the tools you've given us will help our students to find their passion and create new and exciting things. Look forward to photos within the next two weeks!”

Mrs. Hawkins

Funded Aug 8, 2020Thanks to your generous support, we've been hard at work building a robust library of digital resources for our students. These include research lessons, technical support, and so much more. I've been able to provide immediate tutorials targeting immediate needs for students.
Students have expressed that the video content is incredibly easy to follow and use, and provides a level of support that they need right now. The combination of video and audio is apparently easier to follow than written directions when trying out a new technical tool or figuring out the complexities of troubleshooting when something has gone wrong.
Thank you so, so much for giving our students this opportunity. It makes a world of difference in these trying times.”

Mrs. Hawkins
A Safe Reopening for Our Library
Funded Aug 23, 2020Thank you so much for your support of our school library. These supplies will guarantee that we will be able to reopen safely when the time comes to do so. Our students' safety is of the utmost importance, and you came through in a big way to support us in maintaining that safety.
Thank you so, so much!”

Expanding Our Makerspace
Funded Jun 9, 2020Thank you so much! I really appreciate you helping us to find this project almost everything else that is happening. Students have missed the maker space so much during school closures, and this helps them to have something to look forward to when schools reopen. I can’t wait to let students know!”

Our Library's Amazing Light Novel Collection!
Funded Mar 2, 2020Thank you so much, once again, for making a collection of light novels in our library possible. Several of the books are already checked out, and are such a great bridge for manga enthusiasts for reading prose. One student expressed that these books just catch his interest more because of the rapid paced plot and "great illustrations". I now feel better prepared to meet the independent reading needs of several of my readers whose teachers forbid the use of graphic novels, while no longer sacrificing student's personal tastes.
Your contributions have made such a big difference, and I thank you for your support of my students and their reading journeys.”

Mrs. Hawkins

Funded Dec 3, 2019Setting up the library makerspace has been such a rewarding experience. Students are now able to create in the space. They've been busy making pins with our button maker, and also have taken to making accessories. We're still learning the basics of stop-motion animation, but a few students are researching methods. The makerspace has created a great outlet for hands on learning.
At the moment, the makerspace is still in its infancy, but it wouldn't exist at all without your support. Students are rapidly coming up with ideas for what they want to do next, and its so exciting to see them learning new things just for the sake of learning new things.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019Having a printer in our library has made an enormous difference to our students. Now, they are able to print homework and instructional materials in the library. The ability to do this easily has made things so much easier for our students. Most of them did not have access to printers at home. We've been able to print test prep materials, essays, and reference sheets for students.
The students have all breathed a sigh of relief since the printer arrived. Teachers often ask for printed versions of essays and research papers, and now students are able to provide these without issue without having to pay elsewhere or beg teachers to try to find a way to print. The printer makes things more equitable for our students, which is a game changer. Thank you so much for your support!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019It's been an exciting first week! The students are so happy to have a functional library. Thanks to your generosity, the space is welcoming, and there are book ends! Students have been checking out books at a steady pace, and we definitely would not have been able to open right away without your help. This is one of those projects where the materials seem such a basic need, but a huge difference has been made. I can't get over how beautiful the space is.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be working on the next steps of getting the space running. I can't wait for students to really get a chance to dig into having a functioning library this year.”

Funded Nov 9, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donation! The books we purchased through this project are a wild success, and the students cannot get enough of them. The Death Note manga and Scott Pilgrim books circulate like crazy, and many kids have been reading steadily through what you provided.
Because we're a campus library, your donations have sparked so much interest, and many of the students have jumped off into reading prose fiction as a result. The students who read graphic novels are the ones who are also first to ask for reference services and what to read next. I can't express how much that means when we have such a small collection. You've really helped emphasize my impact as a librarian, which is the whole reason I have this job.
I have students now coming in every day to find the next book to read, and there's buzz about the physical space of the library (which is still under construction). Now I have students excited for their new space, and asking when we're going to have a full library, which is thanks to your kind donation.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hawkins
