  • Media Editing Center for Project-Based Learning

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Students are having so much fun building our media center! We've been working hard to build the studio up- students installed the insulation foam and have been recording music after school on a daily basis. We've also used the studio equipment for a news program, and are working with a community partner to expand the studio using the tools we now have so that students may have the best opportunities!

Our next steps are to finally paint the green screen wall and start expanding some of our technical capabilities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • A Professional Clothing Bank

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting this project. Currently, we're still in the building phase of this! We're in process of reaching out to community partners, and because of some construction and shifting in the building, we've had to reallocate where the project will be enacted. But we are definitely moving forward and working on creating a professional clothing bank for our students. We are also getting student feedback on the project and incorporating them into the process to ensure they feel included and heard on what this will look like in the future.”

  • Printing in Color

    Funded Mar 10, 2022

Thank you for helping us to acquire a printer! So many student projects have been completed with your help. From Spanish to Science to Social Studies to ELA, this has impacted all corners of the curriculum.

We also have been able to really enrich our library space with displays and posters. From our interactive book menu to the engaging and inclusive Dewey Decimal signage, this has been a great addition to our library and what we can provide to our students. Color printing really does make a difference.”

  • LEGO in the Library

    Funded May 3, 2022

Our students have been so excited to utilize the LEGO wall! It's truly added a unique element to our library and is really encouraging a collaborative and creative mindset. I've been really impressed with how our students have taken to creatively engaging with the wall and working with each other to build more and more impressive builds.

The LEGO wall has definitely sparked more of an interest in engineering and creative building, which is enabling us to build out more programming and opportunities for learning!”

  • Show Off That Book Cover

    Funded Feb 17, 2022

Circulation has massively improved since we have gotten these book stands! Students love seeing the book covers, and it really changes the look and feel of our library. The whole vibe of the space is vibrant and exciting. I've heard so many times, "I love how you have the books facing out now" from our students.

It may seem like such a simple thing, but these book stands are such a huge improvement and make an impact on literacy. Thank you so much for supporting our students in their journey to becoming full readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • Games and Socio-Emotional Tools in the Library

    Funded Jan 13, 2022

Thank you so much for helping us to add a collection of games and socio-emotional tools to the library. They've been a wonderful boost to the space! They get so much use on a daily basis and do so much to enrich the lives of our students.

We are so grateful for your generosity, and the addition of these games and tools has really allowed the space to flourish. We're now able to assess what our next steps forward will be, and hope to keep growing socio-emotional supports for our students over the next few years!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins

  • Help Our Books Stand Up!

    Funded Jan 11, 2022

Our books aren't falling down! These book stands have been an enormous help. It's such a simple thing that is so incredibly necessary, and now I don't have to stress about whether stacks will get messy and disorganized because we have what we need to function. It's allowed me to make our shelving more dynamic and to prepare properly for our incoming order of almost 20,000 books.

Things are always tight in the library, so it's an enormous help to receive this book ends. Thank you so much for your support!”

  • Adventuring With Dungeons & Dragons for Literacy & Math Skills

    Funded Nov 9, 2021

Since this was funded, we've been playing Dungeons & Dragons every Tuesday and Thursday and it's been quite the adventure! Students have been building their math and reading skills and building strong relationships while adventuring. They've also been 3D printing and model making, giving them an artistic and technical outlet. Dungeons & Dragons has been an amazing opportunity for students to learn and grow this year, and we really couldn't have done it without you.

Whenever we play, students are excited, and they've really taken on ownership of their characters and stories. Thank you so much for giving them this opportunity!”

  • An LGBTQ+ Manga Book Club!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Students have loved reading these books! The impact alone of Boys Run the Riot has been incredible. Trans students feel seen in this manga, and talk about how they enjoy the fact that the protagonist is not only defined by their experiences as a trans boy but also as an artist. They enjoy the bonding between characters.

The discussions we've had about these texts have been super-rich and validating. The ability to frame discussions of gender, family relations, identity, and so much more through manga has really opened a vein for meaningful communication.

Thank you so much for your support!”

  • Help Our Library Reopen in Style

    Funded Sep 13, 2021

Your donations helped us to genrefy our fiction section, something that has completely accelerated circulation of books in our library. It is the most successful thing we've done yet. Students love having signs separating various genres, and are finding the books they want to read much quicker and faster!

It's been exciting seeing the increased engagement in reading among our students, and it's great to have students independently able to select the books they want from the library. This process also helped to point out what areas needed more building out, and which sections are most popular. All in all, this has been a massive boost!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hawkins
