    Funded Dec 16, 2021

Thank you so very very much for your most generous support of my classroom. It is with the most sincere and deepest gratitude that I send you my heartfelt thanks and please believe that I mean this from the bottom of my heart. It’s just difficult to complete this thank you with a required 50 words. Happy Bew Year. May you be safe and healthy through 2022 and beyond”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Carpet Diem 3

    Funded Aug 18, 2019

Every day I walk into my classroom I am reminded of your generosity and support. The RUG is the center piece of my room. It is where we spend most of our time whether it be a whole class lesson , independent work or center activities and game time. It is clean and colorful and welcoming. It is also safe from germs that cause kids with asthma or allergies to become sick.

I have been lucky to have had three rugs provided through the caring friends who have supported my classroom for sooooo many years. I hope you know how thankful I am. Things like my classroom carpet are a necessity that without your help I might not have.

    Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • An iPad a Year...

    Funded Dec 27, 2018

Thank you for supporting my classroom year after year! This year I have had several moments to sit back and take in the amazing result of how your generosity and caring have impacted my classroom. I had 16 students all working at the same time on 'devices'. Mostly they were iPads that have been the result of the many Donors Choose projects you have most likely helped with. I honestly never thought I'd see this moment - my first graders, all working away on a form of technology. I mean when I was their age, you had to get up to change the channel on the t.v......

So this will be the last project I will create. You have been wonderful and I am grateful for you being the good folks you are!

    ❤️”

  • Book It!

    Funded Aug 30, 2018

Please know that I am extremely grateful for your generosity and support. I am sorry that my thank you to you is very late. Every time I look at the book case and admire its beauty I think about how it is in my classroom because of the people who quickly donated to the project. It's easy to look around an older public school classroom and see the limitless possibilities for improvement but it's not as simple to change those things. Over the past 8 years, it seems as though I put my thoughts into a project idea and I get a wish fulfilled. So, again, I thank you for caring!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Cleanliness is Next to Learning

    Funded Jul 31, 2017

I'm so sorry this thank you is so late in coming....but I hope you agree that better late tan never...?

If you notice in the pictures the carpet is the central focus of the classroom. Everything happens around it or on it. It has been cleaned by the MACHINE. Not only did my classroom benefit from your generosity, but other classrooms have also been cleaned. Our custodians have taken over the job, which has also been a gift. So I thank you for helping us be clean and brighter at our school. My appreciation for people like you that care about my students never ceases to amaze me.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Carpet Diem II

    Funded Aug 22, 2016

Thank you! I am sure you know that your support for my classroom means so much to me. I hope that you also understand how much it means to my students to have a place, their room, that is clean, comfortable and safe for them. At the beginning of the year I had a little girl who told me she wasn't allowed to sit on the rug because she had asthma. I told her (and her mom) not to worry because, thanks to you -my friends, got a new rug for our room, It was new and clean, and pretty. They could see it with their own eyes. We also have a rule, well two rules - "DON"T WALK ON THE RUG WHEN YOU COME IN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ( mostly depending on the weather) and DON"T WALK ON THE YELLOW PART OF THE RUG! The yellow part of the rug is still looking pretty good.

So I thank you for making my classroom a better place and I thank you for caring!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Technology Grows in Our School

    Funded Dec 5, 2015

It's so easy to say thank you, but harder to express the real gratitude behind those simple words. I'll try by telling you how important it is to my classroom. You have contributed technology to our world. You have given us an opportunity to learn in a way that other successful and enriched classrooms do in our country.

My students are aware of your gift. You have also given them an awareness of generosity and caring. They know that 'people they don't know' for some reason care about them and their education. Several of my students are especially careful of handling the 'new' iPad, because it is something 'we don't want to break - yet'.

This iPad has contributed to differentiated learning activities, practicing skills, reteaching and reinforcing a variety of subjects. It has also brought the excitement of discovery to what young minds can do with an iPad that has left me scratching my head more than once. ("How did you figure that out?" I often ask.)

I also want to you to know that I can tell my students that good friends are one of the most important things you can ever have in your life. I thank you for that most of all.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Computer Schmuter

    Funded May 28, 2015

This is a thank you, but it is also a testament to people who truly care about helping others. I am grateful to you all for supporting my classroom and funding my project to provide technology in my school. This computer will be used by many students in my school for years to come. My school district is financially challenged and depends on grants, proposals and the generosity of friends to meet the challenges of education standards. Its hard to believe that these expectations could be met unless people, like you, understood that many of our schools are charities in need of funding. Getting off the soap box, I want to tell you how much fun we are having with our MacBook Air. We are learning how to differentiate our technological skills. We are also able to access the educational internet. We are working towards the common core standards that require the actual hands on use of computers.

I think back to when my mother taught "computers" at Natick High School. I also think that Natick gave me a real appreciation for what friends mean in ones life.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • Annual Time for Kids

    Funded Aug 5, 2015

Thank you for funding my project. I want you to know how important it is that this project (that I post annually) is supported by Donors Choose and wonderful people like you. My mother always supported my projects and I continue to do so in her memory. But when old friends ( meaning from years ago..) care enough to support my classroom, it reminds me how amazing my public school experience was and how important generosity and caring is to others.

My students really enjoy 'their magazine'. They have the opportunity to read about relevant information. Time for Kids is a great nonfiction resource material that aligns to curriculum based learning. I value this educational tool.

What kind of a day is it? A day like many days, filled with....thanks for your gift!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

  • If You're Reading And You Know It, Hold A Book!

    Funded Feb 5, 2015

Thank you for funding my project to provide new (NEW!) books for my classroom. My students have been putting them to good use. They are great for so many reasons. They are non-fiction (NON-FICTION!) and engaging. Their pages are intact (and don't fall out of the book when you open it)! There are so many AND are different levels (complexity) which meets the different levels of reading abilities of students in my classroom. These books will 'live' on in my classroom for years to come. My students appreciate these new 'materials' that we will take good care of. I so appreciate your support for my students, the work that Donors Choose provides for our school communities in need and your extreme generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kowal

Giggles, sighs, oohs and awes. That is how I imagine the sounds of my students, day to day, as they settle into their classroom. Eager to start each day, emersed and engaged in the days activities, in a classroom that is comfortable and safe from unfriendly things like germy carpets and rackety furniture. Our community has an extremely high rate of Asthma and has 47% of its' population below poverty level. My first graders love coming to school, and I want them to feel at home at school.
