  • Delightful Decodable Books

    Funded Jul 15, 2022

Words cannot express how grateful we are for your support of decodable books! The science says children should be sounding out words and using their letter sound knowledge to decode new or unfamiliar words. Your generosity has brought so many wonderful decodable books into our classroom community and students and their families have loved helping their beginning readers build a strong reading foundation! Learning to read is such an important skill in the early elementary grades and we are grateful for your generosity in helping us do so!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hannah

  • We Heart Teachers Pay Teachers Resources

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to this project! This Teachers Pay Teachers giftcard will allow for more decodable passages, phonics independent practice worksheets, and opportunities for students to strengthen their reading, writing and mathematics skills as a result of access to resources created by brilliant teachers in the world! We are so grateful for your support in bringing these materials not only to the first graders in my class, but to the first graders across the grade at our school. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hannah

  • Books Are Magic!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to visit a local bookstore in our community (with their family!) to purchase 2-3 books they'd like to add to their personal library! Many students have passed this bookstore, but haven't spent much time inside. This project allowed my students to take in all the magic (hint: books are magic!) of a bookstore and celebrate the joy and wonder that a bookstore creates for children. I loved hearing their stories about their visit and hearing/seeing which books they picked out. I am so grateful for your support in bringing this experience to my students and their families to connect community, school, and a local bookstore!”

    With gratitude,

My students have really grown to love this series and they were delighted to be gifted a personal copy to keep from the beloved Book Fairy -- BF! We cannot thank you enough for helping build a love for reading, learning, and being curious about the world and creatures around us. Thank you for supporting public school classrooms like ours -- we are so grateful for your generosity and support!”

  • Spring Chickens!!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Cock-a-doodle-do! We are so so grateful for your support and generosity -- you helped bring the experience of incubating and hatching and nurturing 2 baby chicks into our classroom! Their names were Chocolate and Mr. Chicko and they were beloved in our classroom for weeks on end. We read beside them, we built/created near them, and we played math games right by them -- just so we could always keep a close eye on their happenings! Thank you again for helping bring this memorable experience to our urban classroom!!”

  • Operation: Organization!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our "Operation Organization" project! The Sterilite bins, paper sorter, and labels have been a huge help in getting me and my students more organized in the classroom! The labels have been used to notify parents of "must sign" documents as well as for trick word/sight word practice games like memory and go fish. The birthday crowns and 'truth or lie' series have also helped to bring joy and excitement to our classroom, along with the dot art markers! Thank you again for supporting public school classrooms like ours!!”

  • Materials- Make, Create + Explore!

    Funded Mar 17, 2022

Thank you for bringing these delightful and fun materials to our classroom! We are so grateful for your generous donations and support of public school classrooms like ours. We have put the "paint sticks" to good use during Choice Time and our labels have graced the front of many game cards to help us identify trick words at sight! We have also put the masking tape to use in our "maker station" center and used our paper towels to clean up water bottle spills :) and to dry our clean hands! Thank you again for supporting this project!”

  • Todd Parr is the BEST Book Basket!

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Roberta + Ariella -- we cannot thank you enough! These books, beloved by your children & many others in our class, have brought so much joy and laughter. These are first grade reading friendly books, with topics that introduce or remind students of the many ways people and things can be -- grandmas, Earth, Spring, mothers, feelings, kindness, fathers, and even... underwear!! (Haa!) This book basket is visited frequently throughout the school day and I know the love for Todd Parr and his sweet books will continue for years to come at PS 261! Thank you both again!!”

  • Materials for Learning!

    Funded Feb 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity and support! Mid-year supplies for learning can be a burden on students and families and teachers -- time and money wise, but thanks to your generous donations it was made possible! We have been hard at word putting our flair pens to good use, playing trick/sight word phonics and math games with our popsicle sticks, and building sentences with cut up sentence strip baggies in reading workshop! These materials have fostered independence and excitement for learning. Thank you again for bring these materials into our classroom!”

  • Titanic: Take 2

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

I cannot express enough gratitude for your generous donations to bring our Titanic study to life! My students thoroughly enjoyed becoming Titanic experts, creating quizzes on the Queen of the Ocean for their families, and making murals to display the very special and unique rooms on board the ship! This project could not have been possible without the help of your donations and for that we are so very grateful!

Thank you for sparking joy in learning, expanding our knowledge of nonfiction beyond factual books about animals, and for instilling curiosity and wonder around a topic that we have come to love!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hannah
