  • Makers Gotta Make: Help Replenish Our Makerspace Art Supplies

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

Our students love creating! Through these materials we have been given, they have used them in the library to make whatever they want to make before school, at lunch and after school. Additionally, students have been using them for planned and constructed crafts during classes that have come into the library with their teachers. Our Arts and Crafts club meets on Wednesdays after school and they are the biggest cheerleaders and users of the art supplies. Thank you for helping us get much needed supplies to our creative, curious and talented students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and 23 other donors.
  • Uplifting YA Books Requested by Voracious High School Readers

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

These books and experiences were truly uplifting. We were able to kick off our reading community with these great books, challenging characters and at the center of our one on one conversations and meeting discussions. Teachers were also very responsive to these books, enacting a school-wide "Reading Wednesday" carved out time for every student in every English or English Language Learning classroom. The supply met the demand, thanks to you and to all who gave toward this project and enabled this access to these brand new, culturally relevant books.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

This classroom project was brought to life by Dollar General Literacy Foundation and 12 other donors.
  • Help Light the "Fire" of Reading Again with Firekeeper's Daughter

    Funded Nov 3, 2021

What an incredible book! Since this project has been created, funded and fulfilled, this book has received multiple awards and accolades from prestigious and professional library and publishing organizations. We read this book in our "Mystery and Suspense" month, along with others from this project. This coincided with Native American History Month too, as the main character is Native and a teen in high school. Our students loved discussing the highs and lows, mysterious plot twists and well written, realistic characters. Thank you for helping give our students this experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

This classroom project was brought to life by Windows of Hope Foundation and one other donor.
  • Boost Readers' Love of Culturally Relevant Topics & Books

    Funded Nov 7, 2021

These books have been an incredible addition to our school library and community! Our students have been reading and discussing these books in our biweekly meetings and in our ELA classrooms in small book clubs as well as whole group reads. Our teachers are commenting to me frequently on how many more students are reading and bringing books to class to fill their free time, choosing reading instead of phone time. The power of reading a book that consumes the imagination, captures the heart and reflects the experiences and relationships is a recipe in making life long readers. Thank you for being part of this project through your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

  • The Score is Love: Tennis Team in Need Sports Equipment

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our tennis team. We were able to add these to the tennis program "arsenal" of tools to train our teams. These student athletes are incredibly dedicated and have been working daily on their tennis skills. Because of your generous giving, we have been able to arm them with the equipment they really needed. This program has been blessed by this great equipment that is being used on a near-daily basis. One very exciting update: two of our Senior players have qualified for our State Championship tournament in the Spring!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

  • Help Us Get Money-Wise: Financial Literacy Is Priceless!

    Funded Apr 21, 2021

Our financial literacy books have been a huge help for our financial literacy program. These books have been used with several of our life skills classes as well as math classes. Available in the library for any one to use, many students have been sharing these with their friends, particularly the Napkin Finance books. To add to the program, we brought in a financial expert from a local organization, Junior Achievers, with the specific purpose of real world application lessons about budgets, debt prevention, credit and money management.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

This classroom project was brought to life by Charles Schwab and 5 other donors.
  • Inspiring Fun STEM Learning Opportunities for Our Library Makerspace

    Funded Jan 25, 2021

Students are loving the Makerspace this year! They come to the library before school, after school and during their lunch breaks. After a prolonged time away from other students, it is evident that they need to make connections and have opportunities to create and discover new things together. When students apply their creativity to their interests in a nurturing environment, this improves their motivation to be at school, to engage in class and to apply themselves. The 3D Pens have bee particularly popular and word is spreading about all the fun and interesting things they can do in the library. All thanks to your generosity. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sierra

  • Help Meet Hunger & Hygiene Needs for Focus and Success

Wow! Thank you for your generosity to our students! This project with help to keep students in a learning-ready state of mind: aware, awake and food in their stomachs to get through the school day. We are thankful for the bandages and hygiene materials for wellness and daily care. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

We are beyond grateful to have raised enough money to buy books for our book club at Lincoln High School! Connecting to the authors of books they are reading is a powerful way to enrich learning and deepen meaning while linking these experiences to their own lives and current events. Knowing the "story behind the story" can change the whole experience of reading, especially as a group and propel meaningful book discussions. Our students want to ask questions about the books they are reading and dialogue on the connections these books have to imperative conversations around social justice, gender equality, policies concerning refugees and immigrants, hate crimes, police brutality and much more. We have reached out to three dynamic authors and look forward to reading these books and then engaging in conversations with each of them.
