• Bring Back Music Education

• Drum Set for After-School Club

  Funded Nov 27, 2023

  Unfortunately, the vendor was unable to provide the drum set (which included hardware and cymbals) that I originally requested in our proposal. I then requested a less costly replacement. I used the remaining funds to purchase an instructional book and drumsticks which the vendor promptly sent us. However, the vendor wasn't able to fulfill the order for the replacement drum set. As a result, the remaining funds were returned to me, and I have dedicated those funds to a new project that includes a drum set, necessary hardware, and cymbals.

  It is my sincere hope that, with the donations you already contributed, the newly proposed project will be fully funded and fulfilled promptly and without incident. Thank you again for your support in the revival of our school's music tradition.”

• Sanitation Supplies for Spanish Classes and Several Clubs

Since we received these items we've made the following foods and drinks throughout the holiday season: tostones, salami frito, queso frito, latkes, lentil soup, and coquito. Your contributions helped us to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment. Your donations will help us to continue to make and serve more foods in the future and, in turn, foster student interest and engage. Furthermore, your contributions to this project will help students develop skills that they can take with them upon graduation.”

• Guess Who? for Fun Practice in Spanish Class

  Thank you very much for your donations. You have helped my students practice the Spanish vocabulary we've been studying in class in a fun and low-stakes way. Your contributions have also helped to give my students experiences that have built a stronger sense of community in our classroom. Due to the widespread use of smart phones and social media, I've found that creating opportunities for genuine interpersonal communication has gotten more difficult over the years. These difficulties seem to have been exacerbated by the disruptions and isolation many of us experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic. Your generosity has helped to reverse this trend by giving my students opportunities to interact and have fun together in-person.”

• Portable Induction Cooktop for Spanish Classes and Clubs

Your support has made it possible for my students to learn about many different cultures and the histories of those cultures through food. As soon as your donation arrived, we started cooking. So far we've used your donation to make arepas con queso, pupusas de carne y queso, tostones, queso frito, salami frito, festival dumplings, tortilla de patata, quesadillas, and tacos. In doing so, students were able to learn about the cultures of Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Venezuela through experiences that you helped to make possible.
