Social-Emotional Learning Through Books
Funded Aug 25, 2021Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation towards your kindness in helping to fund my project "Social-Emotional Learning Through Books". This has been a school year like no other and my students and I really needed mentor texts to help us create a safe and supportive classroom as we transition to in-person learning.
Each week my students are so excited to read a new book and discuss ways they can integrate the social skills lessons through out their day. When issues arise, my students refer to the lessons taught in the books to make better choices.
Thank you for helping my students navigate through the school year.”

Funded Sep 27, 2021Thank you very much for your generous donations to my project Kindergarten Gets Artsy. How amazing that my students will be able to use all different types of crafting materials when we have choice time.
When we opened the package with all of our new and beautiful art materials, the students were jumping up and down out of their seats shrieking of joy. The class was so excited to use the various art materials. As I showed them all the wonderful art supplies, they were excitedly planning on ways to use all these wonderful materials. We made spooky spiders for Halloween.
Thank you for helping to bring my students artistic side to the forefront with these supplies.”

Friendship Is Our Super Power
Funded May 5, 2021Thank you for your generosity in funding my project. When my students saw me carry the box into the classroom, they were so curious. As I carefully opened the package, they started to play a guessing game as to what was in the box. Someone asked, "is it an elephant?". When I told them "maybe", their expressions were priceless. Once the unwrapping was finished, everyone yelled "It's Piggie and Elephant!" One student said, "We were correct, there was an elephant in the box".
This set of books allowed my students to choose a book to read with a friend. Many started to retell or make up a story about what was happening in their books. It was picture-perfect. I can't wait to read a Piggie and Elephant book each day with my class.
Thank you again for your generous donation. You have helped build a bond of friendship in my class.”

Funded Apr 30, 2020Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for funding this project. This has been a different school year for all of us. As an in-person teacher, both the students and I had to adjust and had to be creative in our social distancing practices while maintaining a fun-filled learning environment.
I was so thrilled to receive the lap trays and other materials because they allowed students to instantly make their own learning stations without disrupting the pre-existing physical space. Your generosity in providing us with these materials is truly appreciated. Our thanks to you all!”

Diversity Is Our Super Power
Funded Oct 23, 2020Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for your generous donations. This has been a different school year. My students have gone through so many transitions due to Covid-19 and the Black Lives Matter Movement.
These books have opened up a new world of discussions around cultural diversity and our individuality within our classroom and community. I truly appreciate your generosity in allowing my students to read books where they are able to see their traditions reflected in the pages. This is one of the most powerful things to give a child.
Thank you once again.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you so much for your kind donations to my project. Our kindergarten class was so excited when they saw the package with all the books to help them build their reading skills. My students were busy trying to improve their reading skills. They were sounding out sounds and using their sight word list to help them read. My students' first task was to read to their peers in the classroom. They were being courteous to the listener showing them the book, taking time to discuss, and just enjoying the act of reading together.
Then my students decided to read to the pre-kindergarten students! I was so impressed with my students' reading abilities as well as their abilities at being kind and gentle to the younger children. In many instances, I head my students ask, "Would you like me to teach you how to sound out this word?" or "This is a sight word." and even "How did you like this book?" There were so too many instances of my students using their reading skills to share the joy of books.”

Funded Nov 25, 2019Words cannot describe the excitement that resonated in my class as I opened our brand new box of art supplies! One of the most popular items was the do-a-dot stampers, not only were my students stamping with the doters, they figured out that it was a great way to paint without the mess. Ingenious!
We used the colored paper to capture and highlight all of the wonderful acts of kindness that we are doing for each other as a community. And our self-portraits came alive with the use of the multi-colored crayons.
Thank you so very much for helping me to bring art to a new level with your generous donations.”

Counting and Reading in Kindergarten
Funded Nov 3, 2019Thank you so much for your kind donations to my project. Our class was so excited when they saw the package with all the goodies to help them improve their reading and writing skills. Currently, my students are busy using the ten frames to fluently add numbers to 10 which surpasses the kindergarten math standard of fluently adding digits to 5! In addition, Word Building Kits has greatly improved my students' reading and writing skills. Now my students are fluently recognizing word families when reading because they have been building and writing new words. This skill transfers to their writing too! Many of my students are writing familiar words from the Word Building Kits to elaborate on their writing. This has been such a wonderful and worthwhile learning experience and journey for all of my students.”

Learning With Tablets
Funded Nov 3, 2019My class was so excited when I opened the boxes containing the caterpillar chairs. The kids started screaming "It's the very hungry caterpillar, just like the book." Someone said, "I'm gonna read the caterpillar book in the caterpillar chair." Everyone was so eager to sit in the chairs and took turns so that everyone had a chance to sit in them The chairs have been very useful during partner share. Pairs of students would sit on them to review their work and during choice-time students are opting to read books either independently or with a friend in the caterpillar chairs. Even when there aren't enough chairs to go around, the students take turns being readers and listeners!!!!
My students were equally excited when I opened the box containing the tables. There were so many questions about why our class was receiving all these amazing gifts. I explained that these gifts were from generous donors who wants every student to do their best. Now, my students are using the tablets to work independently on their math skills, word building, practicing their sight words and reading audiobooks.
We absolutely LOVE our new materials. Thank you for your donations.”
