  • Ramp Up the STEM!

    Funded Apr 6, 2024

    I was SO excited to see that this project was fully funded very quick. It means so much to have the support I have from family and friends. When I received the ramps and ball set, my students were ecstatic! They are innately curious, so they were ready to begin building. This ramp and ball set is an open ended toy, meaning it gives students many opportunities to use these ramps in different ways every time it is used. I have seen students create very elaborate ramp and bridge sets and I have also seen the ramps used as a "campfire" and students gather around it as if they were camping.

    This ramp and ball set will provide so many learning opportunities not only for this group of students, but for years to come!”

  • Life Long Skills in TK... Through Play!

    Words cannot express how grateful I am for this dramatic play dress up center! My kiddos love it and use it daily. They were over the moon when they saw the dress up accessories and love using their imaginations to play with this center.

    To close out the school year in TK, we will complete a culminating project on community helpers. This dress up center is a wonderful way to continue to develop the vocabulary (like stethoscope or chef). Having the opportunity to look at each community helper in detail and their uniforms is such a great visual for these little learners as well.”

  • Let's Play!

    Words cannot express the excitement and appreciativeness that I felt when this project was funded. I could not wait to get this project into my classroom! My students were over the moon to receive a brand new kitchen along with pretend food, it is a center that is played with on a weekly basis.

    They love the imaginative play of preparing food, discussing different food items they enjoy, and they surprisingly have a blast sorting and cleaning up the foods to keep their kitchen clean - they are very proud of it!

    Day in and day out I am finding so many new skills developing as far as proper conversation taking and developing and being introduced to new vocabulary, which is absolutely thrilling to watch take place.

    This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and 9 other donors.
Flexible seating will allow my kindergarteners to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During center and small group time they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or during our team teaching rotations. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The Flex-Space Classroom Storage Bench will allow for additional seating in our cozy library. The set of Soft Seats will give my littles the option to sit comfortably while they are engaged in their reading. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
