These materials will improve our play centers in the categories of puzzles, blocks, and sensory time. Aloha, I am seeking financial assistance from generous donors like you because I was hired shortly after the beginning of the school year and missed the opportunity to spend my annual budget (Mahalo). Puzzles provide opportunities for problem solving in the area of logic and reasoning through learning likeness (same/different), developing eye hand coordination, and fine motor grasp. Currently our puzzle center has old puzzles with many missing pieces and incomplete sets. Blocks are important to cognitive development where sizes, shapes, numbers, order, area, length, and weight are considered as they select and build. Magna tiles are so versatile they allow students to push beyond the simple tower design into complex 3-dimensional block design. Sensory time using play doh, sand, beads, water marbles, and foam creates a calming tactile experience for our students to process and integrate sensory information. Currently we are in need of sensory sand, sensory foam, tactile letters, filler for our bean bag chairs, and lids for our sensory bins so the geckos can't poop in them.
