Shhh! Don't Tell Them They're Learning to Read!
Funded Apr 25, 2017First of all, I must apologize for the delay in writing this letter to everyone. The end of the year seems like a blur with all of the events and activities taking place. From the moment the box of materials was delivered to the classroom, my students were eager to find out what was inside! After we opened the box together and looked at all the games, I set up the games while the children were at lunch. It took a little bit of time for everyone to learn how to play each game and figure out how best to manage the materials, but the students thoroughly enjoyed going through the games and helping their friends learn how to play each one!
In the current system where Kindergarten has such serious academic requirements, it was refreshing to take a step back and just let the kids PLAY! It is great to see how my students can really come together and take on the role of a teacher when working with friends on things they feel confident in and these games helped even those students who may have a harder time feel that success. With your help, I was able to make sure each child had a game to play that really targeted their own academic needs and help those who needed more support while still pushing them to do more than they thought they could!
Thank you again for helping keep my students engaged and excited about learning. I am excited to keep using these materials and could not do it without your support!”

Ms. O'Sullivan
Help Me Guide My Students To Love Reading!
Funded Sep 22, 2014Thank you so much for all of your donations! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to provide my students with a dedicated small group learning area. So many of my Kindergarten lessons are done in small groups, while students are working on centers and independent activities this new table will be such an asset to our classroom!
Without donations from generous people like you, many of the things we do in the classroom would be impossible. You are truly enhancing the live of our students with every donation you make and I sincerely appreciate all your help!”

4,3,2,1- Help Me Make Math Fun!
Funded Aug 24, 2014Let me thank you again for contributing the funding needed to bring exciting math games into the classroom for my students. They are having a blast learning new math skills and playing games to reinforce the skills. At first, I thought the overload of requests to play the games would quickly die down as my students lost interest in them, but I am happy to report that is not the case! During free play time in the classroom, my students are constantly asking for math games and they do an excellent job working together playing these games and learning.
These games have not only helped students who were having trouble with some math skills, but it has also promoted an increase in the students willingness and ability to come together and solve problems, as well as help each other when it is time to clean up. They have learned the importance of making sure all of the pieces are returned and I have noticed they generalize that idea into their classwork as well.
When requesting the materials for this projects, I did not fully know all of my students, so I requested a variety of games that focused on reinforcing the Kindergarten common core math standards, as well as some materials meant to introduce the 1st grade standards. Now that I know my students, I am able to push my higher level students to learning more complicated skills by giving them a wide array of different math games to choose from. Differentiation in a classroom filled with 25 kindergarteners can be very challenging, but with all the different games we have received, there is always something for children to work on at their level. Your contributions have really enhanced the math portion of our school day and I greatly appreciate all of your help!”
With gratitude,
Ms. O'Sullivan
