My students deserve the opportunity to use appropriate equipment during recess and physical education. They have been working really hard to improve their bodies, but at times they are limited by the lack of equipment available. We need a portable basketball hoop, training baseballs, a catcher's bag and other equipment. With your generous donations, my students will be able to improve athletically and build the confidence they need to be a positive part of the Oakland community. With the growing popularity of the internet/video games and kids finding less opportunities to play outside, school has become a very important part in the physical health of our children. New equipment creates excitement and influences students to participate in new activities. With your donations, my kindergarten students will be able to practice their basketball skills at recess with a hoop and basketballs fit for their size. Baseball and hockey are two sports that many students are interested in; however, they lack the experience to engage in these sports on their own. The hockey goals, baseball tee, soft baseballs, and tennis balls will help create an exciting environment around these unfamiliar sports.
