  • Organized Readers

    Funded Aug 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations to help organize my books and materials. The students are able to quickly find a book that interests them. They love being able to locate the baskets of books and know which one they want to pick. I am able to display the stuffed animals and lamp to also make it a comfortable place to be. Also, thank you for the baskets I can use to store extra supplies. These make it easy for me to quickly grab supplies for students such as dry erase markers, crayons, glue sticks, etc. Students are also able to locate supplies when needed. Thank you so much for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Poppenhouse

  • Choice and Voice - Where Will I Sit?

    Funded Feb 15, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students absolutely love the new seats we have added to our classroom. Students love to choose where to sit each day. Some days students feel like they would do their best learning in a game chair. Other days they think a stool would work best. I let students decide where they want to sit and do their learning. Having a choice in where they sit allows them to do their best work and focus on the lessons being taught.

When the students saw the boxes arrive they were so curious about the contents. When they returned from the PE they saw the new stools and cushions and were so excited to be able to pick a new spot.

I will continue to allow students to have choice in where they want to sit to do their best learning. Again, I thank you for your support with my classroom needs.”

  • Spark the Love of Reading II

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

We have started our non-fiction unit and these books are really making an impact on some of my students. Students are loving having books that are at their level, books about topics they are interested in, and books they can take home and enjoy with their families.

During this non-fiction unit, students are picking topics they are interested in. They then learn new strategies about how to read non-fiction books and how they are different then fiction books. Students are noticing text features, keywords, they are asking questions and paying attention to details.

Thanks again for helping my students find books they enjoy reading and are able to share with others.”

  • SPARK the LOVE of Reading

    Funded Nov 28, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity. My lower level students are really enjoying the books you helped purchase for my classroom. When they got to find new books in the book buckets they were so excited. Then to find that they had pictures along in the sentences to help read was an even bigger bonus.

These students were also so excited to be able to take home some brand new books and read to their families. Since we read for about 30-45 minutes daily in the classroom, these books will come in so handy. We are also getting ready to start our non-fiction unit upon returning from Winter break. The students will be so glad to have some books on their level. It is so difficult to read non-fiction when the books are too hard.

When students have books on their just right level they are able to read for a longer period of time. They are also able to practice skills that have been taught in the classroom . They can also find words that match the phonics skills we have been working on. Books go hand in hand with reading, writing and phonics. Thank you again.”

  • Interactive Whiteboard for a Fraction of Cost!

    Funded Aug 11, 2021

This project has helped me figure out how to use a interactive board. I am still figuring out how to get students to be able to use it during this Covid time. This project will/is able to get students up and out of their seats and participate with the lesson.

Students used this to write answers on board. They thought it was super cool to be able to hold the pen, and write on the board. They will also like to change color and add pictures. The more we use this the better it gets.

I can't wait to get a station rotation in use for students to use.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Poppenhouse

My students are learners. They love to learn in any situation. We know students these days have a hard time sitting for extended periods of time. I have used flexible seating for 4 years and absolutely love it. Students are able to use the type of chair, or tool that will help them learn.
