Dress For Success
Funded Mar 2, 2022Thank you so much for supporting diversity in my classroom. My students were so excited when they saw the clothes that were so similar to the people in their families. When they enter the dramatic play center, it is so wonderful to to hear the kids tell each other that they look just like their parents or grandparents. We are such a diverse school that it is so important for them to learn about the different cultures of the friends that spend so much time with during the school year. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Mar 2, 2022The students were thrilled when they saw the dolls. They all yelled " Are those for us?!!!" It almost brought tears to my eyes.
The dolls and clothing will be used in our dramatic play center as well as our dollhouse. It was heartwarming to see how gentle the students were when holding and dressing the dolls.
We will continue to use the dolls throughout the year to show compassion and caring for not only the dolls but also for each other.
Thank you again for your generous donations. My students were truly touched by your generosity.”

Funded May 5, 2021My students and I cannot thank you enough for your extremely generous donations. The book pockets have made our lives so much easier. We are now able to keep ourselves organized and our teacher happy with our neat desks.
When the pockets arrived and I started putting them on the backs of their classmates chairs they waited with baited breathe for me to get to them. All of them saying, I want one of those.
I told them that thanks to the generosity of some amazing people we can now keep ourselves organized and make our school lives a little easier. So thank you again for supporting my amazing students and helping them to get college ready starting in Kindergarden.”

Funded Dec 2, 2020I first want to thank you so much for your extremely generous donations. These times are very difficult for all of us but especially for the families in my neighborhood. They were struggling before the Pandemic and now they are struggling even more. Your generosity not only provides my students hours of enjoyment, but it also provides their parents with peace of mind knowing that their babies are being kept safe and learning at the same time. The tools that you provided funding for will help to keep my students organized while also helping to build their fine motor skills. Thank you again for supporting my amazing students.”

Funded Sep 3, 2020Words cannot express how grateful my students and I are for your donation. The las few months have been very difficult for all of us but especially for the families at my school.
The gratitude that they showed upon receiving their supplies was overwhelming. Many didn't think that their child would have any supplies at all this year, but thanks to you and your generosity we have a very happy group of preschoolers and parents.
Thank you again for your generosity it has made a huge difference in the life of a child.”

Funded May 15, 2015I had mentioned to my students ahead of time that the Book Pockets were coming. I actually showed them the Donors Choose website so they would know what I was talking about. One of my students said that the kid in the picture looked like him. When I told him that it was his picture he got so excited and yelled" I famous!!" The rest of the class was just as excited and they were shocked that people they didn't even know would donate supplies to make their lives easier. Once the boxes came to the classroom, they knew that the Book Pockets were in the box. They immediately started cleaning out their desks and were trying to decide what they would put into THEIR book pocket.
The book pockets have made a world of difference. It is so much easier to start a lesson without hearing. "I can't find that book." Now everyone knows exactly where every book is and they can't wait to turn to their book pocket and take out the books needed for the lesson.
This project was a great boost for the students. Knowing that their are people out there that want them to succeed is a great motivator. Thank you all again for your generosity and support. I am sure these students will come and visit my classroom next year and will let my new students know that they received these book pockets through the generosity of strangers!!”

Bean Bags for Reading
Funded Mar 12, 2012April 9, 2012
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your extremely generous donations to my students and our classroom. I knew that the bean bag chairs would add to the atmosphere of our classroom, but I was not expecting the impact that it would have on the friendships in my classroom.
When the bean bags first arrived, all of the children of course wanted a chance to sit on them and relax. As time went on the bean bags have actually become part of the learning process in my classroom. I had expected the students to enjoy independent reading time on the bean bag chairs. What happened next truly surprised and touched me. During reading, math, science, or social studies the students would head back to the bean bag chairs and would work for extended periods of time. Along the way students that never really interacted with each other started working together, just because their bean bag chairs were next to each other. As a teacher one of your goals, beside teaching students to read, write, and do math, is to help them become good citizens. This goal is being accomplished thanks to your generosity and support.
Once again thank you for making my classroom not only a place where my students feel sage, but also a place where they can learn in an environment that encourages socialization as well as academics. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Garrity
