  • PENCILS, PENCILS, PENCILS

    Funded Mar 27, 2025

Thank you for your extremely generous donations to my project. Your generosity will help my students complete all of their assignments for the next year.

Everything a child does in school requires a writing tool. You would not even believe how many pencils a child goes through in a day. Every morning at school, I hear the teacher down the hall sharpening pencils. Thanks to your generosity I won't have to do that every morning. This will give me more time to spend on work that will actually benefit my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garrity

  • Let's Build

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you again for your extremely generous donations.

My students love the "New toys" that they get to play with. Since most of them come from Low income families getting new toys is a rare experience. The smile on their faces when they came in and saw the new toys was priceless.

The Duplo blocks not only give the students a chance to build their fine motor skills they also allow them to use their imaginations and have meaningful conversations with their classmates.

Again thank you for your generosity and please know that you contribution made a huge difference in the life of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garrity

  • Sensory Fun

    Funded May 14, 2023

Thank you again for your very generous donations. The look on my students faces when they saw all of the kinetic sand was priceless.

My students will not only enjoy playing with the sand during our morning routine or center time, the sand will also help to increase their fine motor skills.

The creativity that comes out in my students when they begin to use the kinetic sand is incredible. It is a wonderful tool for students that may not be so confident in their writing skills. Using the kinetic sand helps them to show their special talents.”

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

They say you have to be in it to win it. This sentiment holds true with our students as far as their attendance is concerned.

The materials that you provided will be used to support and encourage students to not only attend school but to really want to be there to learn.

The gift certificates are one way that we can encourage students to come to school, not only for the reward but also for the benefit of learning.

When the students see their friends receiving awards for being in school, it will hopefully encourage them to come as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garrity

  • Comfort in the Classroom

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you again for your extremely generous donation. The carpet has had more of an impact then I could ever have imagined.

My plan was to use it daily for our morning meeting and for the students to be able to sit down and relax while reading their books. Well as usual my students took it to a whole other level.

They love to use the carpet when they are in the blocks center. They build around the outside of the carpet and drive the cars around like it is a track.

I was pleasantly surprised by their enthusiasm and creativity. Thank you again for providing this opportunity.”

  • Build Fine Motor Skills for the Future

    Funded Aug 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. These large pencils will make a huge difference in the hands of my little ones.

Being able to practice their writing skills with the proper writing tools is essential to not only their early reading and writing skills but also the improvement of their fine motor skills.

The look on my students face when they see the BIG pencils is amazing. They are so much more confident in their writing and are more apt to try to write their names when they know that they will succeed.”

  • Sensory Fun!

    Funded Jul 15, 2022

Thank you so much for your extremely generous donations. The kinetic sand and tools have made a tremendous impact on my students. It has helped them to adjust to being in school without their mom and dads. The sand has given the kids the chance to calm themselves when upset and has been amazing in allowing students to get to know each other as they work together to build amazing sand castles and their own creations. When I told them that very kind people bought the sand and tools for us, they were so grateful. Thank you again.”

  • Help us Stick Together

    Funded Jul 14, 2022

The magna-tiles are a huge hit in the classroom. They allow the students to show their creative and compassionate side. They choose to build houses that they have seen in movies (El Canto) and even design homes that include pools, garages, and dog and cat doors.

I wish you could have seen their faces when they walked in the door and saw the box on the table. We are used to sharing magna-tiles with the other classes, but to actually have our own is on a whole new level.

As we change our Units of Studies, the magna-tiles will be used in a variety of the different centers. Thank you again for your extremely generous and heart warming donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Garrity

I teach first graders in Jamaica, Queens. Most if not all of my students are either at or below the poverty line.Several also move in and out of shelters and really dont have a place to call their own. Getting our students to read independently is our top priority. Allowing the students to be comfortable when reading will help to increase their stamina as well as their comprehension skills and their desire to read. The students will be able to use these chairs everyday, whether it be during independent or partner reading time or when we are doing a Science or Social Studies lesson.
