Pre-K Professional Development

The benefits of the Pre-K professional development have been extremely helpful for me during my first year teaching early entry kindergarten. I have access to so many classes that I can access at any time and on every topic I could ever need. One of the classes I've taken is called "Circle Time Success". It has helped me understand how to make our morning meetings engaging and educational for my students. In addition to the classes, I have access to hundreds of activities and lesson plans! This has made things so much easier for me as I can easily search for a skill I want to teach and find several activities that not only give my students practice with the skill, but they are also so much fun! One that they really love is a game called "Apple Apple". It's an alphabet game where they hunt for worms hidden behind the letters. They sing, "Apple, Apple, hide and seek. Where's the worm? Let me peek!" and then they guess a letter and peek behind the card. It gives them practice with letter names and recognition. Finally, I have them put it back in order which gives them practice with the order of the alphabet.

This is just a small example of what I've been able to implement so far. I feel so lucky to have access to such an amazing resource and I can't imagine where I'd be without it. I have seen so much growth in my students and I feel like as a newer teacher, I am growing as well. Thank you for giving my students this amazing opportunity! I feel like they are not only learning but they are starting off their school careers with a joyful experience.”
