• Supplies for Dance Classroom - Fitness & Technology

  Thank you so much for contributing to my dance classroom. There were a multitude of small items that are having a vast impact on my dancers from smoothing out the way our classroom runs to helping my students to gain strength as dancers.

  Part of this project was to fulfill protective gear for a laptop we received in a previous proposal. Thank you so much! Now we can ensure that our classroom laptop has the proper protection so it will last us for years to come. Additionally, we needed a bag for balls that we use in our anatomy unit. We use the balls for understanding how to stretch muscles in the legs and abdominals in a gentle and safe way. Lastly, we are thankful for the thera-bands because they will help us gain strength in our bodies. Building muscle is essential as a dancer!

• Life Essentials - Dance Undergarments

  Thank you so much for contributing to our dance program. Making sure my dancers look fantastic on stage is a constant goal of mine as a dance educator. In my class, the learning and progress goes far beyond just the movement; my students experience growth in their gross motor skills, balance, strength (physical and emotional), and self-esteem.

  One way that I also seek to support my students is by also making sure that they feel comfortable on stage. Being able to help students out with their undergarments is extremely important for making this happen. I truly appreciate you giving me the supplies to make this happen.

  Because of your generosity, I am able to support my students' learning and growth, along with aesthetic presentation that they perform on stage in front of an audience. Again, thank you for helping to support the performing arts and thank you for helping with the more "behind the scenes" aspect of making this happen by fund these very important undergarments.”

• Dance Supplies - Leggings

  Thank you so much for donating the gray and black leggings to our dance program. This means that I can now fully costume my dancers from head-to-toe literally!

  My students have their spring dance concert coming up at the end of April and we are so excited to use these in our performance. In the past, I have found that it can be difficult to ask my students to purchase or find matching leggings. It is an unrealistic request for a public school dance program. However, because of your generous donations, I can make this happen.

  The impact that this has on my students' performances goes far beyond the dance itself; they feel confident and this builds their self-esteem. My students can see that I value them and I value what they look like on stage. This shows in their energetic performances.

• Professional Choreographic Work - Michael Nickerson-Rossi

  This project is more than just a dance. It is so much more! Having the opportunity to bring in a professional dancer, choreographer, and artistic director is a priceless experience for my students.

  The experiences Mr. Nickerson-Rossi is bringing into our classroom parallel real-world experiences in the dance world as well as other professional settings. These types of connections are important in a students' education; being able to make connections between the classroom and the real world truly prepares our youth. My students are growing as dancers, becoming more confident movers, and exploring new ways to express themselves.

  My students are truly becoming better dancers and more poised young women because of this project. I absolutely love being able to witness their growth as individuals and as a group. Thank you so much for making this happen. I know that this will be a project that they will remember for years to come.”

• Master Dance Class with Nickerson-Rossi Dance

  Thank you so much for contributing to this invaluable experience for my students. You simply cannot put a price on bringing real-world experiences in to the classroom. We really appreciate your contributions to our classroom and to the performing arts.

  Because of your generous donations, my students have received an amazing master class workshop with a well-known working artist in the Los Angeles community. He has experience, knowledge and insight that he instilled into my students' that transcends the four walls of the classroom. Aside from this, I know that he has already inspired my dancers as well. We are connecting our final project for the Fall Semester to several of the concepts that he talked about today.

  One of the greatest lessons we learned to day was kinesthetic awareness through partner work. This kinesthetic awareness that we talked about and used in class is so important to partnering in dance and it was so applicable to my students and what they are already learning in dance; it supported my curriculum so well. So amazing!

  It is a rare opportunity that an artists requests to come to my class; being able to adequately fund them for this experience is such an amazing feeling as a dance educator. My students will thrive in this "once in a lifetime" experience.

• Jazz Pants for My Dance Team

  Thank you so much for supporting this project! My students and I are so very appreciative of your kindness and generosity.

  We have our winter dance performance coming up in just two weeks and these jazz pants could not have arrived at a better time. In the past, my students have all worn black leggings that do not match; now my students will match! I cannot tell you how this will bring the show together so much more seamlessly. It is truly the little details that make all of the difference.

  I know that my students will feel even more confident in all of their hard work and dancing because they will have actual matching pieces for their dance numbers.

  As a dance department, we are so thankful to have philanthropists in the community that support the arts in education. Again, thank you very much.”

  Thank you so much for donating this amazing MacBook Air to my classroom. I cannot express my gratitude enough! Having this technology in the classroom allows me to run my classroom effectively and efficiently.

  I have already uploaded my music to our new laptop. Additionally, I am going to start cutting music for our upcoming winter dance performance which happens to be just weeks away. The kids have works to incredibly hard and your gift could not have come at a better time.
