  • Classroom Essentials for Success

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your support with getting these materials to my students! This school year our school building is under construction and as a result we had to relocate to another building for the year. The transition made this year's classroom setup at the start of the year much more challenging. With your support, my students have access to high quality essentials that we use in class every day for projects, practice exercises, and creative endeavors.

I cannot express how grateful we are for these materials. Thank you for making the day to day easier for me so that I can focus on the most important part of my job, preparing students to be successful in society today.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Esquivel

  • Listening to Good Books!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you so much for funding my project! With this brand new headphones students were able to interact with high quality literature in a new way. The excitement of using this new technology only further encouraged students' love of reading and as a result they read many books of various genres both at grade level and above. These materials provide access to some of my most struggling students to be able to read books of interest and allow on grade level students to push themselves and read books at a higher level. What was most encouraging about these new headphones was witnessing a non-reader in my class beam with excitement at the idea of being able to read any book she wants because she can now listen to the read aloud. In addition to enhancing their reading time, they can also engage with other media to further their research which was another exciting thing about this technology for my class. I am so excited to be able to use these materials for my incoming class as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Esquivel

  • High Interest Books for My Class

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Our second grade class cannot thank you enough for the generous donation of high-interest books for our classroom library. Every single student in my class was excited to read the books especially when they realized that they were books that they specifically had requested. Students love feeling like they are being heard and the fact that they now have access to brand new books of their choice shows that somebody cares about them, is listening, and is encouraging their love of reading. This group of books is also special because some of them feature characters that look like them. It is so important to provide students with books that are culturally relevant and that provide windows into the potential that exists for their future.

Just to paint a picture, during our independent reading time, you can see students sitting comfortably while reading books of their choice from either our classroom library or digital library. Independent reading time is meant to be a time designated for reading for pleasure because books should be fun. This new set of books that students chose and received with your help, helps me to facilitate this time and space for them. Students always look forward to the independent reading block and even more so when they have exciting new literature to engage with.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Esquivel

  • Help My Students Become Plant Experts

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Huge thanks from my second grade class to you! Our class had very little science materials at the start of the school year and this kit has been a tremendous help. With this science kits about plants and the science plant library, my students have been able to explore, investigate, and draw conclusions about plant life. They did an experiment to test whether plants need sunlight to grow and to our surprise, many plants did grow without sunlight as long as they were given plenty of water. They also investigated seed dispersal and learned that animals help move seeds in different ways. The activities included in the kit as well as the books were helpful for students to interact and engage with the second grade science standards. The hands on activities also helped them to visualize the life of a plant and its needs for survival.

My students enjoyed participating in each of the activities and were active in discussion, eager to share their observations and conclusions. We are so grateful to have had such rich materials to engage with and learn from.”

  • Help Me Give My Students Flexible Seating Options

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations! The flexible seating has helped my students stay engaged and get their wiggles out. I have assigned some of the flexible seats and bands to some of my more active students. These tools have helped my students to be able to move safely while focusing on their work. Whether it is independent reading, math work groups, writing, or science, these tools have allowed my students to stay on task.

My students are super grateful for the donations and cannot believe that there are people out there, strangers, willing to donate to our class. As each package arrived, they were super excited and in awe. Every child was excited to try out the flexible seating and whenever we do small group work, students get a chance to use them.

Thank you again for helping the diverse learners in my class to have the necessary tools to help them be successful in class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Esquivel

Our next unit in science is Diversity and Survival where they will investigate what things plants need to survive and diversity in different habitats. My hope is that with these materials, students will not only have more resources but also have more hands on experiences to help them develop a deeper understanding of plant survival and ecosystems. My students are very curious and passionate about science, I hope that these materials will enrich their experiences and further their love for science. Along with researching about plant life and diverse ecosystems, students will engage in experiments that will help them in their investigation of what plants need to survive. These materials will help to keep them engaged and actively learning. Students will use these materials for their independent research and group work.
