Physics With R - Maximizing Student Engagement

Thank you once again for your support in acquiring the bow and arrows and the Suspend! games.

My students and I used the bows this September in our study of kinematics and projectile motion. They were able to calculate the speed with which the arrows left the bows and try and use their knowledge of two dimensional motion to hit a target. We placed the targets at increasing distances of 5m each time until the students were attempting to hit a target 35 meters away!

The Suspend! games we were able to use in June during a study of rotational motion. This included the students calculating the torques that each game piece would apply based off of the pieces mass and length as well as where the piece was placed during the game. This led to exciting games where the students were able to hang every piece successfully and so we added pieces from multiple games to keep the structures growing in size.
