Please Help Me Tell the Story of Diversity
Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you so much for your generous contribution. This is an amazing book and I know my class this year will love them. During the pandemic, I sent my old class set home so everyone could have one. You've really helped me out by replenishing the class set so future students can enjoy the book too.”

Funded Sep 29, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation of the block printing materials. The class has been using them to create space stamps! They used carving tools I already had to create planets and stars on rubber stamps. Then we used the stamp and created amazing pieces of art that went into frames for the holidays.
My class was so excited to see all of the tools we were going to use and what the final product was going to look like. They wanted to jump right in on thank you notes.
We will definitely do more print block this year. I was thinking that as we make our way through the 13 colonies groups could make a stamp of their colonial flag or something fun like that. The options are there and it is all thanks to you!”

Funded Sep 19, 2019These materials have made an extremely large impact in my classroom so far this year. We have been using the materials for all types of art projects from block printing to poster making. We have even been using materials you donated throughout our space science unit.
My class was blown away when I told them that generous people donated the materials to our classroom. I was very proud when they immediately asked, "How do we thank them?"
We are actually using the oil pastels for a few different projects as we make our way into the 13 colonies and the American Revolution. Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

Mr. Phillips
Please Help Me Tell The Story Of Diversity
Funded Aug 22, 2019Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. The books you provided for this classroom have been extremely valuable. In the past I've used this book, "Seedfolks" to teach and promote diversity in the classroom. I've used it in that way this year as well but I was lucky enough to have a class set and each student could enjoy their own book. This is so powerful and really allows each student to jump in on the experience.
In my classroom, we have a pretty extensive Reader's Workshop. We used this book to talk about theme, dialogue, diversity, narratives storytelling, and overall character analysis. The majority of the time we actually read this book aloud in class, but there were definitely times when the student had an opportunity to dive into the book alone.
I think all of the students are enjoying the books because it was a new book that none of the students had heard of. The interest was there to see what would happen to the local vacant lot and how the different cultures would interact with each other. This also gave all of the students the idea to help out in our community in some way. Thank you donors!”

Mr. Phillips
New Teacher Needs Books!
Funded Sep 21, 2013The class set of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" that you donated to our classroom has been an incredibly useful in our classroom. As soon as I told the students that we were reading the books as a class they were really excited. I specifically chose the book because we are going to transpose the book into a play. We recently had a residency with the Oregon Children's Theatre and we worked on writing scripts, picking scenes, making timelines, and working on creating a performance. We are currently about halfway through the book and have been making a timeline for all major events in the book. In April we will be performing our play for our school and a weekend performance for our community. I really appreciate your donation to our class and really look forward to seeing what we come up with for our performances.”

1st Year Teacher Getting A Head Start On Materials!
Funded Jun 28, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. Despite the fact that we don't have a school Art teacher, I do my best to incorporate art into something we do everyday. I have also taken on teaching every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student one art instruction class every week.
So far this year, students have experimented with symmetry, pastels, palettes, paint, clay, collage, and textures. At first, many students were hesitant to try some of the different projects, but because they have had the opportunity to experiment with the different materials it has formed them into flexible, risk taking artists.
Being a first year teacher I feel this donation has helped my class reach heights I never thought it could. It makes my job so much easier, and the quality of what we do in the classroom is greatly enhanced.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Phillips
