  • Fantastic Phonics!

    Funded Aug 8, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my students! I can't wait to use these tools during my phonics lessons. Using the mesh to create a pattern with the crayons will help my students remember their heart words, and I know that they will be able to engage with the poems in each book.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena

  • Math Learning Games

    Funded Apr 22, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project!!

Math can be one of those curriculum areas where students just need to practice and practice over and over again. Rather than doing worksheets, my students always prefer to play games! It helps them work with and double check each others' math skills while also connecting to the best part of being a kid - having fun!

These games are used in my classroom to supplement previously-taught material as a way to practice fluency and automaticity in their problem-solving. By making sure these skills are fluent (meaning they don't need to stop to think about the problem), it allows them to build a foundation for other math concepts.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity. You have contributed greatly to my students success and knowledge.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena

  • The Classroom Edit

    Funded May 6, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project. With a classroom of 20 students, you never know what kind of immediate needs you might meet! With everything organized, labeled, and visible, I am able to do a quick stock of items that I need regularly and see what I might need more of.

Organization also helps fight waste. I know that I can use what I have instead of buying extra things and shoving them somewhere in my classroom for the sake of time. If it has a home, it goes in its home. If it doesn't have a home, I have the supplies now to give it a home!

Your generosity and support goes a long way to making sure that my classroom is stocked, safe, and ready for anything!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena

  • It's a Beautiful Morning

    Funded Aug 1, 2022

Every morning, students echo through the hallways as they make their ways to their classrooms. Maybe they have had a stressful morning, or they aren't feeling great, or they are so excited to see their friends. Usually, students need some help getting their minds and bodies ready to be calm and start learning.

When we start our morning with morning work, we try to practice things we have already learned. Morning work is never meant to be stressful or challenging - it is just to get our brains ready for learning. Sometimes we do math pages, or sight words, or sentence-writing. Sometimes, we even get to warm up in whatever way makes us the happiest!

This project allowed me to purchase an entire year of morning work that aligns to our curriculum! Helping me find quality materials for my students takes so much of the morning rush off of my plate. I can prepare for the day without spending precious minutes trying to find the perfect morning work. I know that I have been able to prepare this vital part of our materials ahead of time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena

  • True to Your Shelf

    Funded May 4, 2022

Teachers have many jobs. Among all of the curriculum, testing, and planning, we have our hands so full! From time to time, students come across struggles that really bring them down. We might have students who are struggling with a concept when they feel like their friends are all ahead of them, sometimes there are bullying issues, sometimes we have students who talk about the different people that make up their families, or sometimes we need some help remembering how to focus or how to stay safe in our classroom.

Read-alouds are a daily tool in my classroom. We use books to teach about language arts, math, science, and social studies concepts. They are engaging, have colorful pictures, and funny characters. When we talk about the books, students can connect the words to other things they have read or experienced.

When we add books that can help students think about their own feelings or how they interact with other students, we give them the perspectives and tools to help them become better friends and citizens of our classroom. The books that were purchased with this project have examples of perseverance, friendship issues, critical thinking about problems, and what to do in case of something like a fire drill.

Thank you for supporting me and my classroom in ways that allow me to focus on my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena

  • Grab-and-Go Centers

    Funded Aug 17, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting this project. Teaching is all about planning, and it can be really difficult to plan for the unknown. Whether it's students who need some differentiated support or students who are absent and need a way to quickly practice, or even if we have indoor recess, sometimes we need to think on our feet! These games are fun, engaging, and easy to learn and differentiate and it's so wonderful to be able to just grab them when I need them.

Additionally, they are really wonderful to have in my arsenal of teaching tools for when I know I need the centers to support our learning! Students work independently or with a buddy or group, and I can see them grasping concepts that they may not have been able to understand before.

We are so grateful to supporters of education so that we can be supporters of our students and families. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pena
