I currently teach Transitional Kinder at an elementary school in South Los Angeles. Most of my students are English Language Learners. Although some of the classrooms have technology, unfortunately not all of the classrooms do. We are a Title 1 school where most of our families are on the free or reduced meals. My students are like the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" except they are hungry for a great education! They come to school regularly and ready to learn. I have been using Brain Based Learning Strategies to keep them engaged and motivated. I see the fire and desire in their eyes in wanting to learn. Having a document reader will allow them to stay focused and follow along as we work on worksheets or activities. A projector will give me the ability to display video clips, pictures, and songs which will help them with learning and expose them to adventures outside the classroom.
