  • Adventures in Reading with Mrs. P!

    What a wonderful gift you have given an eager bunch of second graders! You have brought them the joy of reading by providing a captivating story—The BFG by Roald Dahl. For the past couple of months, my class has been enthralled by Charlotte's Web. We recently finished the book and were thrilled to begin The BFG.

    With each page we read, the students are left wanting more. They eagerly anticipate our read-aloud sessions, excited to discover what happens next. These moments foster a love for literature and create lasting memories in our classroom. This year technology is king. Since we are 100% virtual it is critical that I have the best technology available to withstand our virtual day. A new laptop will be able to support students with resources such as online leveled libraries, interactive math manipulatives, educational videos, interactive learning websites and the list goes on. Furthermore, it will allow our class to be on Zoom while toggling back and forth between other online educational resources simultaneously. It will increase student engagement and decrease unnecessary wait time. "You're screen is frozen again Mrs. P!" is a statement I hear over and over throughout the day. I have the top speed internet service in my area but the laptop furnished by the school district is not equipped to keep up with demands of Zoom, Google Classroom, and all the virtual resources needed to enrich student learning. My students are resilient, sweet, and eager to learn! Having a laptop equipped for the demands of virtual learning will bridge the gaps and strengthen the connections between me and my students.
