PBIS School Store of Our Dreams
Funded Apr 17, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our middle school students at Pan American Academy Charter School. Through the donations made we were able to fully equip our Panamazon School Store for our students with items motivated them to work hard to demonstrate they are Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful and Engaged to earn points for shopping days.
The kids are particularly excited for the opportunity to win the Big Prizes this year! We did not get a chance to give them away last year so we are using the AirPods, apple watch and camera as a start of the year incentive. So far the excitement and improved student behavior and engagement has been telling. None of this could have been possible without the generous support of contributors like yourself!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021We want to extend a huge thank you for helping our students receive planners for the school year. Teaching responsibility and accountability for school work is so important in elementary school and your generosity has helped our students stay organized and focused this school year. The students are proud of their planners and have loved being able to point out important dates in their lives using the stickers provided. The pandemic has caused our school to go remote for a few weeks at a time but the students have been able to use their planners to stay on top of their work and look ahead amidst these changes. We are so grateful to all who donated for helping us provide our students with agendas that have increased engagement from students and families, been a source of pride for our students, and a great organization tool.
We have attached a few photos of our students with their planners below. We hope their joy and appreciation (as well as our own) is evident through the screen!
All our love and appreciation,
Pan American's 4th Grade Team”

Funded Aug 25, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your support once again. The Spanish books that we've received this year have made such an impact on my students. Furthermore, these books have made a profound difference in my teaching practices. This year I have started doing more read-alouds with my students when introducing new skills such as inferencing, cause/effect, and summarizing. Having access to so many new Spanish language picture books made me realize the power of reading aloud to my students, whom I had always thought were too old to enjoy read-alouds, but boy, was I wrong.
Reading in my classroom has now been transformed. Not only do my students enjoy reading our new books but they feel a sense of success at having Spanish books that they can read. I've also seen an increase in excitement over some of the books I've read aloud in class. In particular, when we buddy read to the Kindergarten class on Fridays, I see so many of my students implementing the same read-aloud strategies that I use with their kinder buddies. It's really exciting to see.
Most of my students are really enjoying these new books, however, I've noticed that some students in particular are expressing extra excitement over the books than others. Some of my struggling readers have shown so much joy over these new books. They want to take them home often and don't even want to stop reading when our time is up. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to offer my students such a variety of Spanish reading materials. With your help, I know my students will have so much growth in their reading this year. Thanks again!”

Funded Oct 10, 2016Dear Donors,
My words can't fully describe the excitement in my classroom now that we have a full Spanish library. Everyday my students take part in "100 Book Challenge" where we read for 15 minutes and they fill out one "step" on their log that tracks their reading until they make it to 100 steps and beyond. I allow my students to find a comfortable spot in the classroom to read, some even choose to lay on our class pillows and rugs to read. I try and make reading as comfortable and inviting as possible.
However, I'm not going to lie, it was not always easy getting my kids to sit and read for even 15 minutes. Reading in 4th grade requires high-interest text, and unfortunately, in Spanish, I just did not have those types of books to offer them...until now. The change in my classroom since receiving the books through your generous donations has been incredible! The amount of side chatter and student disengagement has decreased significantly. My kids are actually reading!! It's amazing!
My boys, who are my most resistant readers, are thrilled that we now have a "sports/deportes" section in our library. Every day during "100 Book Challenge" time they buddy up and read some of the class favorites about the LA Lakers and Miami Heat. My girls are thrilled at the amount of animal books added to our library and the Judy Moody novels have been a huge hit as well! Many of my students who used to tell me they "hated reading" are now asking to borrow my books overnight so they can continue reading at home. It's really quite beautiful to see that passion for reading I hoped would occur in my classroom, actually growing right before my eyes. I can't thank you enough for the change you've made in 52 young lives! You deserve so much more than just our thank you cards, but I hope you enjoy these! My kids were so excited to thank our generous donors.”
