Color Me Ready 2 Learn!
Funded Jun 19, 2013Kindergarten students have been so excited to use our microscope and crayons. They are absolutely fascinated by looking at things under the microscope. If you were to walk into my classroom while we were using it you would hear them say: awesome, cool, gross, what is that, whoa, wow and wish I had one of these at my house! At my age group the crayon box is a must. They are always looking for a certain crayon and now it is so easy to find it in our color baskets.
My students have been so excited to work with the microscope! Every year we do a handwashing unit to practice good habits. The kids were so excited to see what our hands looked like. It was so cool to see details of our hands and fingers up close and who washed their hands well and who needed to keep working on it. We have looked at things we have found on the playground such as bugs, rocks, sticks, leaves....really just about anything the kids want to look at.
Our crayons are such a time saver! It really helps to have them on hand for when a student looses a color. My students this year really love art so it has been a blessing to have the extra crayons. The microscope has boosted our curiosity level super high. They want to know what everything looks like up close. Often they are surprised what they find. We always finish our lesson by drawing what we didn't know but, we found out when we looked up close through the microscope.”

This classroom project was brought to life by UPS Foundation and 3 other donors.Laughing, Learning, Loving Literature
Funded Jan 19, 2010WOW!! I can hardly believe that our school year is coming to a close. I am not sure where the time has gone.
Your generosity on our project has been enjoyed by my students so much this year. Students have enjoyed listening to books on tape and CD. This player is so much better than our old one. Our last one could only play tapes and now we can listen to our favorite books on tape but, we also have the new technology of a CD player that is incorporated into the unit you donated which allows us to listen to more current books that I find.
This donation to my project will benefit so many children who do not have access to books. I use this everyday twice a day in my room. Studnets are exposed to so many more books this way than if I am the only one reading to them. The best part is when they are so engaged with the story that I can hear them laughing. Your gift brings laughter, smiles, appreciation and love for books to my classroom. ”

Mrs. Krause
