  • Guided Reading Leads To Fluent Reading!

    Funded Feb 13, 2014

Thank you so much for helping us receive this guided reading center with books. My students have enjoyed reading and have their buddy class read to them. My students were thrilled with the new books that were on their grade level. These books could be read to them or they could read to others.

Without caring people like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing we could not have had the opportunities that we had this year to share our reading with another class in a higher grade. Each Friday we met and read to one another. This helped my ESL students and my English speaking students so much. They gained confidence and reading fluency.

Thank you so much for caring about students in Ash, North Carolina!”

    With gratitude,

  • Bringing the Outdoors Indoors

    Funded Feb 21, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. We could not have grown the plants and completed so many activities without your help.

Our class planted strawberry plants and sunflowers with the supplies that we received. We also were able to have a field trip to a farm! We even had a guest chicken come into our classroom! My students learned so much and did so many activities with these supplies. I know they will always remember how exciting and rewarding watching plants grow can be.

Thank you so much for giving to our classroom and giving us the opportunity to experience nature in real life. I know this has helped foster a love for nature in my students and they will also take this with them. Thank you so much for caring about students in North Carolina.”

  • Using Art To Create A City Of Embers

    Funded Jan 24, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Our City of Ember books and study guides were amazing. My students loved the books and the study guides were so helpful in responding to the book in so many ways.

We received the books and started reading immediately. This same group of 4th grade students will be in my Academically Gifted Classroom for 5th grade for this coming year. We plan to finish up with the book and create our city early in the year. My new 4th grade Academically Gifted Class will be able to start reading the book in September and we can then make our City of Ember for 4th grade.

The book is such a good book for young scholars. It excites their imaginations and keeps them glued to the book! The art projects we completed with the book helped with their understanding of the book. Creating a City of Embers will help my students delve deeper into the book.

Thank you so much Lily Sarah Grace Fund for caring about the creativity and hearts of my students. We would never have been able to read and create without your help!”

  • Greek Mythology And The Arts

    Funded Jan 8, 2013

Thank you so much for funding our ART project for Greek Mythology. My students were thrilled to have had the opportunity to study Greek Mythology. The supplies we used made mythology come alive in my classroom.

My students put on shows, did Reader's Theater, and made colorful Trading Cards from their favorite myths. Introducing Mythology to my students without using the ARTS would have been very boring since some myths are hard for younger students to understand. Using the supplies from the Lily Sarah Grace Fund made mythology exciting.

We made story maps, character webs, and trading cards. These were scanned in using the scanner we received and then put on our iPad and projected by the Epson Home Theater. Students video taped their classmates as they were acting out the parts from various myths. All were saved digitally for students to share with their parents and friends.

Thank you so much for enriching the hearts of my students. School was fun and engaging and they were learning. Without the help from the Lily Sarah Grace Funding, this would not have been possible for my students. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Creating Art While Learning Creatively

    Funded Feb 11, 2013

Thank you so much for funding our ART project. My students were overjoyed to have these art supplies to use every day in our classroom. Bringing color and art into our studies has made ordinary classwork come alive.

We used our supplies recently when we were studying Symmetry. We decided to make Mother's Day Cards at the end of our Math lesson. Students were given letters that they traced to spell MOM. They had to make the letters symmetrical. Some even colored their cards for symmetry.

Not only did our Moms love their Mother's Day Cards, my entire class can see symmetry where ever we are. Whether it is in nature, their drawings, math, or just in our classroom, they truly appreciate symmetry.

Thank you so much for supplying our classroom with these resources. We could not have had the wonderful learning year we had without the Lily Sarah Grace Funding for our classroom.”

  • Dinah-Might Creations With Journals

    Funded Mar 12, 2013

Thank you so much for making this amazing project come to life! My students are busy as I am typing, they are working on journal entries and making their characters come alive in their minds.

These resources are truly Dinah-Might. I wish every teacher could have these hands on tools that truly help students think and learn. Students love to manipulate paper and make things - with these journals, I am able to pick what I want for my students to work on and then they glue into their personal journals and complete the activity. They are still learning, just having fun while learning!

Thank you so much. I could not have gotten these resources if it wasn't for caring individuals and companies who truly are committed to the growth of our students.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Greek Mythology With Epson Technology

    Funded Jan 8, 2013

Thank you so much for funding our Greek Mythology Using Epson Technology project. My students were so happy to be able to create their version of the Greek myths that we have been studying in our Reading class.

The Epson home theater was so easy to hook up and use. My students did all the unpacking and hooked up the projector and were able to use the iPad dock to show the videos they had taken in groups.

I believe acting out the myths made my students more aware of the meanings behind mythology. They related to the technology used and all my students were engaged. We plan to create more Digital Stories with all of our novels.

Thank you so much for making this ongoing learning experience possible for my students. We could not have done this without help. Thank you for caring about students in North Carolina.”

  • Chromebooks For A Broader Look At Learning

    Funded Jan 9, 2013

Thank you so much for these amazing Chromebooks. My students are thrilled to have lessons online. We have six Chromebooks and they share happily.

We have a state based online learning community, Edmodo where I can post lessons and have a virtual classroom. We are using this for our Google presentations and documents. They are thrilled to be able to do this and have asked me for homework over the weekend. This is a true indication that they love learning with the Chromebook. We are already working on a digital presentation with Greek Mythology. These Chromebooks are amazing and perfect for classroom use. They save their work in Google.docs and finish or work on their presentations at home.

I don't have enough room to tell you how grateful we are to have these Chromebooks. They have changed the dynamics in my classroom. Students are engaged and wanting to learn! Thank you!”

  • With Epson We Can Put Our Artwork In The Clouds

    Funded Jan 14, 2013

Thank you so much for your very generous donation to our class project. We have taken research reports to another level thanks to your donations.

My class loves to create and the supplies you have given us help make this possible in all aspects of our curriculum. We have turned our research on Greek Mythology into a colorful Dodecahedron and have used glitter and stamps to make them even more colorful. Instead of the usual research report that some students might not enjoy, my students are wanting to start another project immediately.

Thank you so much for caring about my students in coastal North Carolina. You have made a group of 3rd - 5th graders very happy!”

    With gratitude,

  • Inspiring Creativity Through The Arts

    Funded Aug 20, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class project. I am in a new district with a new group of students this year. They are thrilled to be using the art supplies daily.

We are studying Greek Mythology and they have made the nicest books using the

Cricut Cutting packages. They use the light table constantly to trace the characters and write essays on the gods and goddesses. I let them use the gel pens, pencils, and writing materials in all of their work. I know that this helps them be creative thinkers as well as adding color and creativity to their work.

Thank you so much for caring about our students in North Carolina. My students are so happy to have the enriching materials to work with. They are inspiring me with their creativity in learning that these materials give them!”

I am a First grade teacher at a Title I school. We are located in a beautiful, small community near the sea. We serve mostly rural families. Our school is very active and we strive to continuously learn! My students this year are very diverse. I have an ESL cluster group along with my high achieving students. We have experienced major budget cuts in NC and we do not have money for extras such as hands-on activities that help teach science and math and enhance learning for all. My goal is to have my students learn what is mandated by my county and then to go beyond this curriculum and foster curiosity about the world around them. I feel that knowing about the environment and nature will help them know themselves and become confident adults, able to compete globally in any field they choose.
